Thousand Islands

The Thousand Islands Archipelago, better known simply as the Thousand Islands, is a large cluster of islands in Razhea Capita's only ocean. The archipelago is home to the rich and famous, world-renowned celebrities living on private islands, customised to their liking.

Razhea Capita's ocean was the last region of the planet to be infested with urbanites, until the wealthy decided to capitalise on such a valuable space. While most of these islands were naturally occurring, some people chose to construct their own artificial landmasses in order to build the most luxurious of supermansions and skyscrapers.

History

The Thousand Islands have been a small part of razhean culture for tens of thousands of years. Up until the last few thousand years ago, it was inhabited by the pelaci, an extinct culture of razheans well adapted to a semi-aquatic lifestyle.

Pelaci stuck firmly to their traditions and ways of life, until their untimely demise. The eruption of Mount Cetacii, a volcanic island in the archipelago, decimated every last pelaci. The mainland had the technological capabilities to protect themselves, but the pelaci were defenceless.

The islands were left uninhabited for almost two thousand years. Just over three hundred years ago, a small island directly south of Mount Cetacii became the new home of Merlin Esendenedin, a globally recognised razhean actor. This garnered a lot of attention, and rather quickly, more global superstars moved out to the Thousand Islands.

Several of these billionaires, including Merlin, funded an operation to block Mount Cetacii, preventing it from risking the lives of anyone currently living in the Thousand Islands.

Leylines & Energy Sources

Chroma Current

The chroma current is the longest leyline found around the archipelago. This rainbow stream can be seen from the surface of the ocean, despite being almost a thousand metres underwater.
Alone, its energy output powers half of the archipelago's inhabitants.

Weaving their way through the archipelago are small leylines, streams of magical energy.

Leylines come in many forms, and in this archipelago's case, as undersea rivers of liquid magic. This magic can be siphoned and used as a powerful energy source, infinitely recycled.

To nobody's surprise, the residents of the Thousand Islands use these leylines to power their lavish dwellings.
