Elubra Kasau
Elubra Kasau led the first Kannvas Oil worker strikes, forty years ago. Operating in the Brightreef Factory, she and her wife rallied together nearly sixty workers to form a small union. They refused to work until the company put stricter health and safety guidelines in place, and better protected employees.
Her early work led to eventual changes within the corporation. Sadly, she passed away from mantisite poisoning just two years ago, a consequence of inadequate safety precautions put in place by the factory. Her death reinvigorated the union, which continues to fight Kannvas Oil to this day.
