DeoVita Geneticist
DeoVita employs three hundred geneticists to study genes and create genetically modified organisms. Their work is kept secret, hidden behind mountains of non-disclosure agreements and laboratories with exclusive access.
The company was founded by humans on Earth, but acquired by Jupiter after humanity went extinct. Jovians kept DeoVita running, keeping its name and practices.
These geneticists take orders and requests from a number of clients. Military organisations are often interested in constructing bio-weapons, such as the fluffbears now used by oanie military.
Their work doesn't go unnoticed. Few truly know who creates these genetic monstrosities; almost everyone with an ear to the ground in space society at least knows someone, who knows someone, who has contact with someone that owns one of these creatures.
Genetic Manipulation
... I can't make this. It goes against all laws of nature. Who... who would ever want something like this?
Geneticists have isolated specific desirable genes from other species and are able to insert them into zygotes. They monitor embryos and help them develop.
Clients will fill out orders and request specific genes, whether it's a desired characteristic or a specific species. Geneticists rarely get a say in what genes are added to the order - unless there is legitimate safety concerns for the public, any order must be fulfilled.
Their work doesn't just involve client requests, though. A subsidiary of DeoVita, DinoVita, exclusively works on reviving extinct organisms native to Earth. Their most prominent efforts included reviving Loxodonta, known to humans as the african elephant.
Infamous Creations
Smiloquagga
A hybrid between two extinct creatures from Earth, the smilodon and quagga. These carnivorous equines have been accidentally released into the wilds of Capepo, hunting in herds.Fluffbear
A bite from a fluffbear can snap a person in two. They carry aggression levels rivalling trode bear, yet on the outside appear cuddly and adorable.Flesh Dragon
Winged death machines, flesh dragons are apex predators designed for brute force in battle. Their transparent scales reveal writhing muscle, shimmering and flexing with every pounce.Bitten
Cute mixtures of bunnies and kittens. They permanently remain babies. Popular pets among children, until they realise bittens bite.Orctopus
Manufactured for military operations far out in the Milky Way. Orctopi have genes from orcas, anglerfish, giant squid, narwhals, among others. The original concept was created by humans, uncovered by jovians and then sold to the highest bidder.Scaly Deer
Scaly deer are shorps with komodo dragon genes. An experiment made for fun, these space deer have become ravenous, venomous, scaly monsters.Sneetle
A very proud metraphite commissioner requested several hybrid species, all using snails. Sneetles are a mix between a snail and a beetle. Encased in its shiny white elytra is its squishy body.Snutterflail
This same request included snutterflails; delicate wings of a butterfly attached to the squishy snail body. The unidentified commissioner has an enclosed garden of nearly a thousand snutterflails.Galactic Dancer
The parasitic tendencies of wire dancers were infused into a species of super-size space worm. They are planted inside invasive shrill whales to reduce populatoins on a galactic scale.Related Articles

Of course the Orctopi were human ideas originally. Why does this not surprise me. Jurassic Park was a warning not an instruction manual, gah!!! And I mean I give it a decade before some horror beyond comprehension breaks out of their laboratories and the whole galaxy is playing Resident Evil.
I'm very very thankful the orctopi were never actually made by humans... though I wish jovians didn't make them either D: I'm really excited to expand on them mwahahaha
