Surge Realm

Electric magic is drawn from the Surge Realm. It is overflowing with magical energy, spilling over into neighbouring realms. Some sorcerers spend their lives trying to contain leaking magical energy, which has devastating impacts.

Geography, Location & Climate

I've spent my entire life trying to contain the energy seeping from the Surge Realm. It escapes in small bursts, terrorising other realms.
This energy manifests into violent, erratic monsters. The longer they last outside of the Surge Realm, the stronger they grow.
— Electromancer

The solid ground in this realm cracks and breaks apart after every lightning storm. Energy seeps through the ground, a hazy black smoke billowing out and filling the atmosphere.

It is extremely difficult, navigating the Surge Realm. The lands are ever shifting, torn apart by tremendously powerful supernatural forces.

Bright lights flash in the skies, where sparks of energy break through dimensional walls. These are an unimaginable distance away, but these sparks are so large that they still fill the sky, even billions of billions of miles away.

Thunderbolt Citadel

The Thunderbolt Citadel stands tall as the sole beacon of security and safety in the Surge Realm. The Yonderverse's most powerful electromancers operate within this grand building, working tirelessly for the past two thousand years to try and reign in feral strands of electromagical energy.

Ecology

Something's amiss. Those things aren't native to the Surge Realm... why are they here? What possible reason could there be for these animals to be in this realm.

Few creatures can handle such immense magical energy in the Surge Realm. Those that do are naturally very powerful, their bodies designed to withstand such incredible pressure.

Some of these creatures aren't native to the Surge Realm, instead from other realms and planes. They were cursed by the people of the Underworld, banished to the Surge Realm.

Smogfrog

Giant winged purple frogs. They breathe the same black smoke that fills the atmosphere.
Native

Galvanic Ectovis

A subspecies of ectovis, much larger than its cousins on Temperil.
Native

Copper Ivy

A deep brown species of ivy that weaves patterns along the ground, resembling magnetic fields.
Native

Stashcoin

Tiny domesticated creatures with pocket dimensions for stomachs, found across the Yonderverse. How they got here is a mystery.
Not Native

Aberrant Kraken

Squids the size of small planets. They fly far above the ground, avoiding the ominous black smog.
Not Native

Seppenta

Snake-like arachnids native to the Underworld. The entire species was cast out, banished to the Surge Realm.
