Starsaught
Starsaught was a technomagical device used in the Ancient Aphroditian Empire, on Venus, ten thousand years ago. It was designed to capture strands of star magic in space. Only one was ever created, and it brought the end of the empire.
This device was originally designed by Mesa Menopha, genius inventor. After he invented the starsaught, Mesa disappeared, and the empire's ruler had acquired it.
The starsaught was a large machine, standing on four wheels. It resembled a telescope's shape - a large cylinder sat atop four wheeled legs, and the lens could be pointed to anywhere in the sky. The hollow cylinder had three lenses inside, only one active at a time.
The yellow lens would be pointed towards the night sky, to detect strands of star magic. Once a strand was detected a small yellow light would flicker on the starsaught, and the lens is switched to the next. This next lens, blue, hones in on the strand, and brings it in to harvest. The technology that allowed this lens to drag the strand of magic from beyond the atmosphere is a mystery, even to the most intelligent scientists in modern day.
The third lens, red, is switched in once the strand is close enough to be captured. The magic is stored within the starsaught, and transmuted into a viable substance, a liquid.
After its invention, the starsaught was used by the emperor. This machine was still considered a prototype by Mesa, but the emperor did not know this. Upon using the starsaught, it imploded and created a small black hole, which swallowed up the emperor's castle before imploding and ceasing to exist.

On the one hand, Emperor shouldn't have used it cause they were not told is was ready. On the other hand Mesa, MESA! This is why we LABEL prototypes!!! Cmon, science and inventor 101.
Wellll maybe the emperor shouldn't have taken it and made Mesa mysteriously disappear! D:
