Aphroditian
The people of Venus wouldn't be where they are without the foundations that Aphroditians set. Having built the largest cities ever seen on the planet, this eclectic empire of delacourtans and gekkori were united with one goal: to reach the stars.
A catastrophic incident lead to the sudden death of the empire, but not its peoples. They carried on, learning from their lessons, their children leading Venus into a brighter future.
History
Aphroditians had the longest rule of any civilisation in the history of Venus. Their empire spanned seven thousand years, coming to an end a decamillennium ago. The Aphroditian Empire was born in the Redfields. They named their capital Nvavanis, which means star guide in ancient astraean.
Benevolent people, aphroditians were renowned for their caring and forgiving leaders in a world full of tyrants. It was an unspoken rule to not provoke the Aphroditian Empire, as they had more power than the rest of the world combined.
It was around thirty years before the empire crumbled when they learned to dabble with star magic. This phenomenon had been observed for thousands of years prior, but it was Mesa Menopha, a renowned sorcerer, who managed to wield this magic for the first time.
Followers of the Stars
Aphrodians charted the course of every star in the night sky. Early Aphroditians would mark the paths of staropods. These dinosaurs have a connection to star magic. Staropods glow bright purple at night when fixated on a star. A herd will follow a particular star for a few months, looping round the Redfields, forever trying to reach it. When the herd realises this mission is futile, they fixate on another star.
Later Aphroditans learnt to track stars using their own means. Mesa Menopha invented the world's first starsaught, a technomagical device designed to pinpoint strands of star magic in space, drag it into the atmosphere, collect it, and transmute it into a viable substance.
Word of this sorcerer's invention spread through the empire, and very quickly the ruling class were investigating. Mesa mysteriously disappeared and the empire's most elite sorcerers, working for the emperor, had access to the starsaught.
Their technology became far more advanced, now with entire teams of sorcerers trying to develop new machinery to harness more of this star magic. The empire's ruler quickly became overwhelmed with the desire to reach the stars, after almost all hope had been lost. The starsaught became the emperor's only focus, and the citizens of this vast empire had become neglected.
As a result people began fighting back. Without the care from the emperor they once received, cities became a lawless land, unpredictable and unsafe. Citizens were unhappy and began rioting and staging coups on the emperor's land. In a panic, the emperor ended up wielding a prototype weapon on an angry crowd gathered outside castle gates. Unfortunately, as just a prototype, it exploded upon initiation, killing the emperor and forming a small black hole that swallowed up the castle before imploding and ceasing to exist.
