Redfields

The Redfields are a series of hot biomes on Venus. They sit along the Equator, full of vibrant foliage. The Redfields gets its name from the crimson-coloured grasses that frequent this region, interspersed with gigantic star paradisia and other magnificently large organisms.

Many of the world capitals are in the Redfields. Venus's political and religious capitals are both found here; Ulvara and Nvavanis are the two largest cities of the planet, with a combined population of six hundred million.

Geography, Location & Climate

The Redfields is an expansive region covering many biomes and countries. It is characterised by iconic red foliage, that, from a distance, makes the ground itself appear a deep crimson colour.

Redfields Badlands by Mochi
Redfield Badlands

The Redfield Badlands are sometimes considered a biome of their own. Strips of hard rock are left in place between softer rock that has eroded over thousands of years.

Dark red grasses grow atop these rocky peaks, and silvery grey rivers cut through canyons and valleys.

Coastlines

The coastlines of the Redfields can be considered a sub-biome, with unique climates and conditions. These hot beaches have both rocky and sandy shores, with many red tidepools scattered about the base of cliffy regions.

Countless port cities sit on these coastlines, particularly around the west and northwest regions.

Coastal Caverns

Bleeding into the oceans are the coastal caverns of the Redfields. Tunnels bore through the beaches, oceanic waterfalls cascading into deep caverns. Water from these caves soak back into the ocean, creating its own cycle.

Venus is the designated oasis of the Sol System. Its ability to foster and preserve life is unprecedented, with five native sophonts and millions of other identified lifeforms.

The tropical climates draw in hundreds of millions of tourists yearly. Venus is often in people's bucket list; most visit the planet to seek out foreign cuisines and cultures.

Staropod by Mochi

Ecology

Aaaaa, watch out! Those guys won't stop for anything.
Ugh, those dinosaurs. Why do they even follow the stars, it's not getting them anywhere.

With the amount of biomes in the Redfields, it is unsurprising this region has highly diverse wildlife. Staropods are one of the most iconic lifeforms in the Redfields, following stars in the night skies in gigantic herds. Many small animals follow these herds, catching small invertebrates unearthed after every step of these monolithic dinosaurs.

The savannas of the Redfields are home to many more large dinosaur species, however none as large as staropods. Many of these animals are magical, with connections to powerful magical fields such as stellamancy and lunamancy, the magic of stars and moons.

Plant life is just as rich in the Redfields. Bioluminescent grasses grow aplenty, glowing at nights, serving as the only source of night light as Venus has no natural satellites. Thick vines creep down the coastal caverns and slowly dig out tunnels, creating larger spaces. These caverns eventually collapse and create dangerous terrain to traverse.

Major Landmarks

Ulvara
The political capital of Venus. It houses the Venusian Council, Venus Space Legion, and several other significant organisations that dictate life on the planet.
Nvavanis
A gigantic, historical city. Once the centre of a great empire, Nvavanis celebrates its grand history. It has gone through many iterations in its time, now a blend of ancient and modern architecture.
Tandol's Reach
Tandol's Reach is one of the highest peaks in Aphrodite Terra. Many attempt to climb to its peak, celebrating by ringing a large bell placed precariously on a small ledge. Many have lost their lives on this mission.

Excellent as usual Moch, I love the little detail about the ecosystem growing up around the staropods' footprints!

Moch the aritcle is beautifully done, and your artwork does exactly what it should which, in my opinion is to give you a feeling of how it is to be by the redfields - well done.   One note: there are a lot of scroll bars :P
