Portrait
"Hey, this guy looks interesting!" My friend said, as we strolled towards a creepy black stall at a halloween festival. A large sign above read "Magic Portraits", so we headed towards him to see what that was all about.
"Hello, I'd like a portrait please!" My friend exclaimed, as a large man turned around with a canvas. My friend seated himself, as the man sketched out a portrait in just a few minutes. "Five dollars please," replied the man in a low, grumbling voice. My friend handed over the money as I stood waiting, and the man handed over the portrait. We both stared at the portrait as we headed away, trying to figure out why it was called a "magic" portrait. As my friend was about to complain at wasting his money, two children bumped into him, causing my friend to drop the portrait, and it was crushed by the running children. I turned around to see my friend lying on the floor, face crumpled, exactly like the portrait.

I really do feel bad for this man. As far as I'm aware he did nothing wrong, and how he's cursed with eternal misfortune. Nothing major, but the most inconvenient things in the world all occur to him, all the time. Everybody knows about Ereko, and how his life is incredibly painful. Never fails to stub his toe as he walks through a doorway, or hit his head on the top of the frame despite being shorter than it, catches his pockets on the door handle, and that's just one scenario. Every single moment of his life he is tortured with misfortune, thanks to a God who cursed him.

"It's coming! Lock your doors!"
I sprinted to my door, slamming it shut. I reached for the wooden lock, sliding it into place. I took a deep breath and slumped onto my sofa. I hate these days... I thought, recalling every single time the blood moon monster showed up and forced our entire village into a panicked lockdown. As I closed my eyes, I heard a faint rattling outside. It was here. Shadows from the windows seeped inside, drenching my room into complete darkness. I held my breath as a menacing black figure stood outside my window, its red eyes glaring in. I couldn't help but look at my door, checking that it was locked. The blood moon monster caught on, and looked too. It tiptoed over, its tail waving about, rattling in the wind. The monster started scratching at the door, at the sides, the bottom, and eventually at the lock. It wedged its talon between the gap in the door, and slid the lock upwards in a matter of seconds. That's when the door creaked open, and the monster stared at me, and lunged.

Possess
A human is being possessed by a spirit. Spirits are found on many different planets, and on each planet appear differently to suit their environments. Unlike spirit orbs, spirits are malevolent beings that seek to possess and drain the life of people. The more intelligent a person is, the more life the spirit drains from them. On Earth, spirits have transformed into creatures that can phase through objects, as human civilisations have destroyed their native habitats so now they hide in abandoned houses.
