Sovora Alkora
Sovora Alkora is a proud rubidian oologist and ornithologist. They spent twelve years as a lecturer at the Sakara Birdwatching University on Osao, after returning to her home planet to study endangered bird life.
Talented as they may be, organisation is not one of their strengths. When she's not neck-deep in thick wetland reeds, Sovora can be found at her A to Zoo funded home in wilds of Rubrinea. Sovora has been observing the breeding patterns of numerous endangered bird species in the Afilan Region.
I heard Sovora is like... a century old.
What? She looks like she's only twenty?!
I heard she was cursed. But like, in a good way.Blessed?Oh, yeah, that's it.
History
Having grown up in a conservation-oriented family, their love for wildlife is not surprising. Sovora quickly grew attached to birds in particular.
Research conducted in her twenties drew the attention of the Sakara Birdwatching University, and they requested they host a lecture on their findings.
The successful lecture eventually led her to enrol as a full-time professor, a career which lasted twelve years. Students credited her knowledge, yet often mentioned how disorganised she was.
Their eccentric, hyper, messy personality brought her great acclaim throughout faculty. During their time at SBU, Sovora increased graduation percentages from 94% to a whopping 99.2%.
After twelve years, Sovora felt a yearning to return to her home. They moved back to Rubrinea after receiving a grant of an undisclosed amount, from the A to Zoo, to study endangered wildlife and improve the organisation's education sector.
Ever since, Sovora has diligently observed a number of endangered species, successfully rehabilitated many injured birds, going so far as to repopulating the brindled chissaw, a bird species once on the brink of extinction.
Conservation Work
We have never seen a bird population bounce back quite like the crimson-bellied heron. Thanks to Sovora' work, the wetlands of the Afilan Region are far less overcrowded with invasive fish, leaving room for even more native species to return.
Working alongside the Afilan Ornithology Centre, Sovora has re-introduced three regionally exinct birds. The brindled chissaw, crimson-bellied heron, and the ephemeral cargol have all seen a steady increase in population with Sovora and the Centre's help. They have also increased cerise stork populations and are currently working to decrease demand for stork meat.
While working as a professor on Osao, Sovora also worked closely with the university to increase awareness of local endangered wildlife. The tempered hummingbird, the state bird of the Coral Desert where SBU lies, has been a major focus for conservation.
