Phantom Stone

Phantom stones are precious gems found deep in the wilderness on Maloruno. These stones enhance the power of its holder, and phantom stones bind together runo tribes.

Usage & Runo Tribes

Phantom stones are used to enhance anything to do with phantomancy. These stones bind themselves to whomever holds them, and thanks to their size they are implanted into the palms of runos so they are never lost.

Phantom stones also aid in communicating with spirits and the dead, by unlocking a pathway through time. Despite these stones making communication easier, it is extremely difficult to converse with spirits and only the most powerful phantomancers are able to. The older the spirit is, the more difficult it is to communicate and more power is required.

Due to how powerful these stones are, only runo tribe leaders carry them. They are implanted into their palms, and the tribe leaders are permanently granted these power enhancements. However, these powers are not limited to the tribe leader. The power infiltrates its way into the entire tribe, connecting each and every person. If someone is to be kicked from the tribe, they are simply detached from the phantom stone and their powers are diminished.

Location

Phantom stones have an unknown origin, but it is thought to be artificial since these stones are found as perfect spheres in nature. They can be found extremely rarely in the wilderness, buried beneath rubble at mountain's edges, high in trees, or in thick shrubbery. There are an estimate of thirty thousand phantom stones in the Southern Hemisphere, only a quarter of which have been uncovered.

Many theorise phantom stones were created by the ancestors of runos, whether this was an entirely different species altogether. There are no concrete theories, but it would somewhat explain how the stones grant a passageway to communicate with old spirits of those who previously wandered the planet.
