Glaciamancy

Glaciamancy is a minor field of a magic under its parent, hydromancy. Glaciamancy is the power over ice, beit manipulation of ice, or the melting and freezing of water.

This field of magic is often laughed at as people consider it to be on the weaker scale. Glaciamancers are cool to the touch and level headed, a side effect of being exposed to this magic.

Utility & Usage

Glaciamancer's Eye by Mochi

Glaciamancers are known for their ability to generate and manipulate ice. Freezing water and melting ice is a common feat of icecasters. They can also control snow, forming snowclouds in the atmosphere as well as produce snowflakes around one's hand. More powerful glaciamancers can generate powerful snowfall, even snowstorms.

Since many organisms are largely made of water, master icecasters can freeze bodies from the inside out. It is an incredibly difficult feat that few can achieve, and it is also illegal in most regions in the Yonderverse.

Consequences

Perhaps not a negative consequence but just a result of continued use of ice magic, the users eye will undergo a visual transformation. Ice crystalline structures will grow in one's eye, forming a visible snowflake pattern around the pupil. This has no effect on the user, but is a visual sign that one practices glaciamancy.

Glacier Sigil

A glacier sigil, when etched onto someone, forbids said user to cast any ice magic spells. The spell can be metaphysically etched onto someone, or in a physical form such as a tattoo or as an icy scar.

These sigils are rarely used and can only be removed by the person who initially casts it. The consequences are great and is used as a severe punishment for magical crimes.

Most know Casilla Maw as a hydromancer, but she frequently dabbles in glaciamancy. Her leaguemates bring her beverages, for her to fill with ice.

Small populations of glaciamancers exist on most planets. Entire civilisations of icecasters exist on polar planets, such as Daglaci.

On Daglaci in partiular, 3 in 5 daglacians are at least an amateur glaciamancer.

Daglacian Family Trees

A handful of daglacian family trees have close ties to glaciamancy. Sacred spellbooks are passed down, generation to generation, ancestors teaching their children familial spells and secrets.
