Southland

Southland is a country in the Tropics, and makes up 1 half of the continent. It is in the South Ocean, west of Tropacia, and south east of the Region of Sarra. It has a troubling history of colonisation, harmonids and centaurs fought against each other to try and take over the land for themselves, which ended up killing off the entire centaur race.
The entire country is a giant plain savanna, with lots of rivers and lakes that divide the island country into different states, Ingo, Lakaro, Erioun, Mnaki, and Qifdin.

Structure

The island country is split into 5 different states, Ingo, Lakaro, Erioun, Mnaki, and Qifdin. These 5 states are divided by rivers splitting the island up. Each state is run by a head of state, who controls the state, but ultimately reports to the ruler of the country. Ingo is located in the north west of the country, Lakaro is in the direct centre, Mnaki is in the north east, Qifdin is in the southwest, and Erioun is in the south east of the country.

History

From about 2 million years ago, centaurs started appearing in Southland. Their herbivorous diet lead them to turn the entire island into large farmlands, without consideration for other creatures and their habitats. When harmonids arrived about 1.8 million years ago, they forced the centaurs into a limited territory, much to their frustration. Centaurs fought back, and fights occured. The biggest fight was the Centaur Uprising, lasting 200 years. The centaurs eventually lost, and they were then forced into small territories by harmonids. As the years went by, centaurs got less and less land, and they were slowly dying off, harmonids not caring at all. Eventually, due to the lack of food, water and resources, centaurs died off completely, rendering them extinct.
In recent years Southland has become much more modern in terms of magic and technology, especially technology with the discovery of the dent spider's venom being used as vaccines and cures for many viruses. Southland became a powerhouse of discoveries, having some of the smartest scientists on Greenerth.
