Quake

Quake is a legendary bird of prey from Sarran mythology and fairytales, popularised over a thousand years ago. It is commonly described as having a wingspan over a thousand feet, and a single flap of its wings can create hurricanes.

Quake is a large legendary bird of prey from Sarran mythology. She resides in a large cave in the dunes of Sarra Desert, and every hundred years it wakes up and terrorises the villages on the desert's border. One single flap of its wings can create hurricanes, and when it soars it brings heavy sandstorms along with it.
Some specific accounts describe a legendary fight between Quake and Qara, another legendary bird primarily from Aekorian mythology. Legends say this battle took place over Half Ocean, and the birds created huge whirlpools and tornadoes above the ocean to try and kill each other. No bird succeeded, instead both parted ways and flew to their individual islands, Quake to Sarra and Qara to Aekor. The fight was so powerful, it managed to reset time itself, and then when the fight ended the year 0 began.

Historical Basis

Nobody really knows if it was true, however much evidence points to yes. Huge remains of feathers can be found below Half Ocean, supposedly where the fight took place. Two large caves, fit for birds of these descriptions, are found on the coasts of Sarra and Epilhin.

Spread

For thousands of years this myth was only known in Sarra, but began to spread into Aekor, the Frost Lands, Trecath and the Tropics a thousand years ago. It was widely accepted at the time, but now many people believe it to be fake and laugh at those who believe in it, but the entire world goes with the time that the myth states, the fight happening 2050 years ago.

Cultural Reception

For Sarrans, this myth is taken incredibly seriously, especially with the villages near Sarra Desert. It is taken so seriously that everbody in those villages wear necklaces with a wooden figure of Quake, so she won't attack the village. If everybody wears the necklace, it is believed Quake will not attack and instead spare the village.
