Novian

Novians are the only marine sophonts of Venus. Their territory is limited to the Aphrodite Ocean, where they inhabit the deepest regions, far below the twilight zone. Little is known about novian culture, as they prefer to keep to themselves.

Concealed Cities

From what has been understood of novian culture, they are avid users of various forms of magic. They use magic to conceal their cities from the wider world, casting illusion spells that transform a bustling city seabed into a lifeless one. Because of this elaborate spell, it is easy to spot where a novian city should be.

These spells are so powerful that one can interact with these barren faux seabeds as if it were entirely real. Only novians and spellcasters have the ability to see through these spells and access novian cities. But, getting through security is an entirely different issue.

Leviathans

The size and span of Venus's oceans have given rise to leviathan-sized species. Some hundreds of metres in length, these gigantic organisms dominate the planet's marine ecosystems. They don't necessarily need to be carnivorous, either; some venusian leviathans have a diet entirely reliant on plankton.

Regardless, novians have developed an innate ability to communite with other marine organisms. An enchanting siren's call rippling through the oceans, silverspeak is a language developed and used exclusively by novians to communite with and control leviathan class organisms.

Novians utilise leviathans in their day to day life. Monolithic crustaceans are used as excavators to expand the sprawl of settlements, and various other creatures are used to guard cities.
