Orchestrion

With a wingspan of nearly two hundred metres and the ability to warp sound waves with a single flap, orchestrions are creatures of great reverie.

They are an endangered species, with only between two to three hundred individuals left in the wild. Attempts at rehabilitation and conservation have proved largely ineffective as well.

Orchestrions are a light pink with an elegant white train, twice the length of the body. Their feathers are lighter than air, with microscopic tendrils to literally catch sound waves. They use these sound waves to disorient prey, swooping down from above and catching them with tentacle like feet.

Every time an orchestrion flies above, our village is submerged in darkness. When silence floods our homes, followed by a piercing scream, we know they're on the hunt. It's a part of life now. They don't target people - we're far too small.
