Greater Oasis Planet Treaty
The Greater Oasis Planet Treaty was a revolutionary document signed by nearly three hundred planets throughout the Greater Oasis, a small sector of the Milky Way. The treaty aimed to protect unclaimed planets in the Oasis, which for thousands of years have caused violent conflicts, planetary nations unable to peacefully share these valuable regions.
The treaty, simply referred to as GOPT, was signed 32 years ago. Razhea Capita and Maresa were the two biggest advocates for this treaty and encouraged hundreds of other superpowers to sign, as well. Even Karkhala signed, and they have been trying to back out ever since.
The treaty predominantly protects Harvesting Planets. This sub-classification of planet includes any without an extant native sophont, and an extinct sophont must have remained extinct for one orbital year.
The aim of this treaty is for it to become a fundamental rule every planet in the Oasis must abide by. All 294 planets that signed the treaty are legally bound, thousands others following suit out of respect, and somewhat pressure and coercion.
Signing
It took five years of intense negotiations between a collective of planetary officials gathered in the House of the Mastermind, the most important landmark on Razhea Capita.
In order to prevent any of the signatories from backing out, they had honouring ghomes watch over each and every one of them. Honouring ghomes are spirits that make sure you stick to your promises; breaking one guarantees death to you and those you hold dear.
Amora Forteya, Razhea Capita's Head of State involved in this treaty, had little faith that the other signatories would stick to this treaty. It was asking a lot of these inter-galactic empires, to hold back their desire to claim new planets. In order to guarantee they stuck to their word, Forteya bound an honouring ghome to every single signatory.

If only Honoring Ghomes were a real thing, I feel like real life could use them a lot honestly. Also of course one planet wants to find a way out, there is always one isn't there, every time. An ambitious project to say the least however ambition can be a driver for good, and in theory this very much sounds like a big good, if it works to the hoped for extent. An interesting and very much 'living' document in many ways, I like it Mochi, well done!
It would be lovely if honouring ghomes were real D: The only reason this treaty still works is because of those ghomes, when I write the full article i'll get to showcase just how powerful they are, but basically everybody was scared shitless into signing the treaty xD
