Gnomes are inquisitive, inventive, and endlessly curious people whose fascination with the world has led them to become celebrated artisans, scholars, engineers, illusionists, and explorers. Few races embrace learning with the same enthusiasm, and fewer still delight so thoroughly in asking questions that no one else thought to ask.
Small in stature but energetic in spirit, gnomes are easily recognized by their expressive faces, bright eyes, and lively personalities. Hair colors vary widely and often become silver or white only in advanced age, while clothing frequently reflects a fondness for vibrant colors, intricate embroidery, and clever craftsmanship. It is not uncommon for a gnome to wear tools, notebooks, or curious inventions wherever they travel.
Gnomish settlements are places of constant activity. Workshops hum with experimentation, libraries overflow with journals and diagrams, and public squares often host debates over everything from philosophy to mushroom cultivation. Failure carries little shame among gnomes. An experiment that produces unexpected results is simply another opportunity to learn.

Visitors are expected to exchange stories, answer curious questions, and perhaps solve a riddle or two before the evening is over. Those willing to indulge a gnome's curiosity often leave with new friends, unusual gifts, and considerably more information than they expected to share.
