  Here's a list of all the easter eggs and references within Legends of the Dragonguard. Read at your own risk; there may be spoilers! This is also an ever-expanding list as more stuff is worldbuilt onto this whole thing.

Movies / TV

  • How to Train Your Dragon
  • The Shadescale and Ire dragonkin were inspired by the Night Fury.
  • The Bleeding Sun dragon was inspired by the Monstrous Nightmare from the Live Spectacular show.
  • The Namui dragon was inspired by the Flightmare.
  • The World Hole was inspired by the Hidden World caverns from the third movie.
  • Toothless & Hiccup
  • Sabretail and Zella both have prosthetics.
  • Sabretail's left tail fin is painted red after the battle of Rayhaven and is a reference to Toothless.
  • Hookfang & Snotlout
  • Thornfire and Ivis inspired by this duo.
  • Draco Null was inspired by Drago Bludvist.
  • The Dragon Prince: Mystery of Aarovos
  • Rayhaven was inspired by the city of Lux Aurea.
  • Vexx Corvance's appearance was inspired by Lord Viren.
  • Mk11 Repeater was inspired by Caitlyn's hextech rifle from the Arcane show on Netflix and actual rifle revolvers.
  • Games

  • Day of Dragons
  • Forgotten Forest location is a reference to the map named Forgotten Forest.
  • Grand Tree is a reference to the World Tree on the Forgotten Forest map.
  • The area around Rayhaven was inspired by the Grand Falls area on the Forgotten Forest map, as well as an area in Archage.
  • The Elder Scrolls
  • The Legend Name for Airigold, Golden Claw, is a reference to the Golden Claw in Skyrim.
  • Tork was a name taken from a character in ESO.
  • Nissov was based on the blue dragon imp in ESO, and his name was Nulcheck's baby netch pet.
  • The Scalebreakers was inspired by the Dark Brotherhood.
  • Destiny 2
  • The demonym of Dragonguard personnel is naturally "Guardian", so the phrase "Guardian down!" is a reference to what Ghost says when a teammate dies.
  • The international currency, Glimmer, is a reference to the currency in Destiny 2.
  • Airigold, Shadescale dragon, Bleeding Sun dragon, Namui dragon, and the Ire wyvern were all originally going to be in a game Nulcheck and his friends wanted to make back in 2013.
  • The Global Logistics Agency (GLA) is a reference to the GLA faction in the Command and Conquer games.
  • The Legend Name Void Leviathan was taken from what Nulcheck called the Ghost Leviathans that lived in the Crater Edge (or the void biome), in Subnautica.
    (Void Leviathans were finally added in Subnautica 2)
  • The World Hole was inspired by an old chunk error bug in Minecraft, and this is what Nulcheck called them.
  • Null's Diner is a reference to Nell's Diner in Phasmophobia because it sounded close to Nulcheck's username.
  • Music

  • The Dragonguard's theme song was inspired by A Cup of Liber-Tea from Helldivers 2, and Arrival to Earth from Transformers.
  • People

  • The pronunciation of Lleah is based on a shorthand nickname derived from Nulcheck's sister, Liann (Li).
  • Christopher Merrick was based on Nulcheck's oldest brother, Chris.
  • Scorch was based on Nulcheck's friend Sean (Tic-toc26).

  • Anvilites
  • Mochi's Mocha was named after Mochi, and was punishment for making a dad joke at Nulcheck.
  • Null's Diner is a reference to Nell's Diner in Phasmophobia because it sounded close to Nulcheck's username.
  • Miscellaneous

  • Anaq's name is Yup'ik for "feces".
  • The telescoping Shortlance was inspired by an online creator who 3D printed one.
  • The mention of the filling and rinsing machinery on the Crystal Tea article is a reference to a running joke from Hugbees on YouTube, who made How It's Made parodies.
  • How It's Actually Made - Soft Drinks at 0:42 and 1:49 and 3:45.
  • "Rinsing or Filling Machine?" - Your Questions Answered

  • World Anvil
  • The phrase that starts the Forgefest competition, "Light up the forge," is a reference from the World Anvil community.
  • The trophies for Forgefest, the World Anvil and Blue Anvil, are references from the World Anvil community.
  • The title of the Forgefest winner, Forgemaster, is a reference to the titles of the World Anvil founders. Janet Forbes and Dimitris Romeo Havlidis.
  • Scourge War Card Game was inspired by Blue Fairy 74's Dragon's Hoard board game in her world E L A Q I T A N.
  • Mythology & Tales

  • The Kraken in this world is an ancient sea serpent-like creature named Khael'dran. The original legend name is Keel Cracker because he cracked the keels of ships to sink them. Over time, the name has evolved into Kraken.
  • Only one ancient dragonkin is known to hoard items, but this fact has spread across the lands throughout time and has become a common trope that dragons have hoards. Most ancients do not do this.
