Dinner with Thrawn

We enter the library to discover the kids have been taught by the Mentats to tear apart frames and create crossbows using the staples that had been tacking the painting to the frame as the projectiles. Zaye asks if we should tell Vanya and Davish about what they found, but I suggest that the teachers of the lesson should be the ones to share what they found. She agrees and I have the kids to go collect all of their ammunition as we have agreed they can keep the crossbows. I can see the Mentats getting excited about something on the desk, we grab the children and move out of the library. As we are leaving, we hear some clunking down the hallway. It sounds very ominous and Zaye and I look at each other. I move closer to her and we whisper about options. We think using the Mentats as bait while we ambush from the shadows might be the best option. I gather the children and suggest they guard the library. I walk in with the kids and set them to deciding (fighting) about who will guard which side of the door. I talk to the Mentats and tell them that something is approaching which might be tied to what you have found. They agree and walk out with me while we leave the kids with instructions to shoot anyone they do not know.
 
We walk out and see coming down the hallway are three shadowy beings As the sounds get closer and the emergency lighting flares, we can see very tall, metallic drone-like machines. Kit Kat talks to one of the archeology team who recognizes it and says they are guards for the library. Kit Kat walks up to them and does something like a mind meld and they say that they will be happy to escort him to the children's section. Kit Kat tells us to leave him and he will catch up later. I shrug and we walk out to find the Jedi. As we are almost to the Jedi, I suddenly remember that we need Kit Kat for the dinner tonight. I am very VERY hopeful that he will be with us by the time we finish getting the Jedi caught up on the events that happened inside. We merge with their group and Vanya introduces Almon, who had walked over to her, to one of the archeology team, Tibaria. Decision is made that we need to go find him and Zaye and the kids head to the archeology team to find out what they have discovered. The kids aren't thrilled about it, but Vanya gives them a job to make sure Almon does not have a panic attack. As we are about the head in, Kit Kat walks out.
 
We all gather our things and head back to the ship so we can get ready. The Jedi and Spook have babysitting duty and I am POSTIVE that nothing will go wrong. After all, they have a list of things they can do, food they can eat, and bedtime. It will be fine. As we get closer to the ship, we see a lot of activity around the X-wing with pit droids chasing porgs and caf hounds chasing the pit droids. While we are dressing, we receive a message from Thrawn's team giving the meeting place as the Packing Crate Cantina. Zaye and I discuss the meeting location. We had investigated the options earlier and while we liked the Packing Crate cantina best, the bets were all on the Whispering Fountain. After discussion, we decide that he picked it as a distraction, but if we walk in expecting a distraction, then he can't distract us. Well, it made sense while we were talking about it. We verify that no weapons show and head out.
 
We all meet up before the entrance so we can enter as a group. Before we enter, we look around to see if we can see anything out of place or anything in a place we expected to see something dangerous. There is nothing. Nothing at all. That seems even more suspicious. We shrug and hope for the best while we follow Kit Kat in being one step behind and to his left while Almon is on the right. We are directed to the top conference room where Thrawn is sitting sipping a drink with one clone trooper on duty behind him and one at the door. We sit down on Kit Kat's left and observe him drinking the proffered beverage. He sips and doesn't die so I rise to get Zaye and I drinks. Servers arrive with menus and we order some appetizers - including a Corellian Blooming onion so I can share some of home with Zaye. The cool thing about it is that it is served flaming!
 
Conversation ensues and Thrawn indicates that he has been shown his short sightedness in relation to his allies and wants to work with us. To prove his good intentions he provides information about Noki - she is a half-Twi'lek clone or at least having clone markers. Then he drags me into the limelight by telling me that my dear aunt is having me followed at times. I trade a few minor barbs and then put the emphasis back on him and let Kit Kat take the lead again. What he wants is to give us information and we help him to retire with his home planet part of the Alliance of Worlds. After we discuss his hopes and dreams, we eat and talk casually. What alternate universe is this?!?
