Luisant Empire (Loo-sawn)
The Luisant Empire is a long-standing and formerly wide-spread elven empire, originating on Terres Dorées, which it held for thousands of years.
After expanding to occupy Pyalea (denoted in the new Pyalean calendar as 0 PL (Post-Lumières, or Post-Enlightenment)), the empire underwent a great number of challenges and changes resulting in the collapse of their standing on Terres Dorées, the diminishing of the elves as a people, and the rise of other several other species under their guidance. The Luisant Empire of Pyalea as it stands today encompasses the majority of the known remaining elven population of Theos.
The success and longevity of the Luisant Empire is largely credited to their mastery of magic. So great was their magical prowess, they were able to tame the wild, chaotic, ever-changing landscape of Pyalea and make it stable and habitable, even as they worked to uplift other sapient species.
While contact was lost with Terres Dorées some time after the official colonisation of Pyalea, the Luisant Empire was prosperous and dominant upon the new continent for more than two millennia before Le Scindere, which would ultimately be considered the start of the Empire's decline.
The capital and largest city of the empire is Phareac.
Structure
The Empire's official structure and governance is divided into three branches; the La Cour (administrative), the Imperial Army (military), and the Arcanum Imperium (magic).
Each branch follows a consistent and well established hierarchy throughout the Empire's territory and holdings, with higher ranking individuals having authority over lower ranks of any branch. For matters of dispute at equivalent ranks higher authority is required, unless the matter at hand is irrefutably within the realm of one of the branches.
The Empereur is above all. The ranks and titles of the three branches are as follows.
