Imperial Army
The Imperial Army is the military branch of the Luisant Empire under the authority of the Empereur, and paralleled in authority with the branches of the La Cour and Arcanum Imperium.
The Imperial Army is a standing military force that operates on local, region, and empire-wide scales simultaneously. They serve in both military and law enforcement role in most situations. Each holding of requisite size within the Empire has its own Imperial Hall where the local military force is stationed, housed, and trained. Many imperial halls double as the seat of power for administrative governance as well.
Structure
Each rank and position within the hierarchy has authority over someone with a lower rank, either as a direct report, or indirectly when applicable.
Général Règle
The commander-in-chief of the entire Imperial Army. Appointed by the Empereur, and kept in close counsel, the Général Règle is generally well versed in at least some combination of combat, military tactics and strategy, law and law enforcement, diplomacy and politics, and logistics. They are responsible for assigning and deploying their own général.
Général
The highest rank of deployed military roles, the Imperial Army features several général at any given time, though the exact number varies depending on the preference of the current Général Règle, and the events of the time. Each général is tasked with their own substantial force to command, as well as the forces of their assigned jurisdiction. This may be a territory or region, a campaign front, or a specialised regiment.
Commandant
At least a handful of commandants will likely serve under a given général as their deputies, tasked with directly managing a portion of a territory or region, or overseeing specific tasks and assignments. While required to have some level of field experience, commandants are typically more bureaucratic or logistical in their skillsets.
Capitaine
Head of a regiment, capitaine are the commanding officers of standing military forces and law enforcement. Any holding with an Imperial Hall will have a capitaine in command of it, overseeing training, recruitment, local and/or regional law enforcement, and liaising with the local administrative and/or arcanum authorities.
Lieutenant
Tasked with commanding the enlisted forces, lieutenants are responsible for seeing their captaine's commands carried out and managing assignments within a regiment. In law enforcement stations they are usually responsible for investigations within their jurisdiction.
Maréchal
The bulk of the martial forces of the Empire, the maréchal are fully trained in a variety of weapons and tactics, and have completed requisite field experience for their local Imperial Hall to attain their rank. Once promoted to this rank, they are most commonly reassigned to larger holdings or a standing military regiment.
Aspirant
Aspirants are the official new recruits of the Imperial Army. Still undergoing training, but at least capable in the basics of combat, most aspirants prove themselves through tasks and/or tests to earn their entry into the ranks. Aspirants are most commonly recruited from the local population by their respective Imperial Hall.
