Count Strahd von Zarovich
Count Strahd von Zarovich is probably the most famous Ravenloft character. In the year 351 BC, he killed his brother Sergei and, in doing so, dragged the entire country into the Mists. Strahd was trapped in a cycle of chasing after the reincarnation of Tatyana, his brother's fiance, only for her to die until the year 713 when an adventuring party from outside the demiplane attempted to help. In helping, the current reincarnation of Tatyana was killed and Strahd himself split into a good (human) half and a evil (vampire) half. Which one is actually Strahd is the subject of some... intense debate.

Inajira once made a deal with Strahd. In exchange for Strahd's soul and the souls of those that fell in the soon-to-be-fought battle, Strahd gained vital information to win said battle and access to Inajira's Book of Names for a year and a day. As the book was eventually used to perform a botched summons, leading to the creation of the Demiplane of Dread, Inajira soon found himself trapped and unable to reach his book.
