Azalin Rex
Azal'Lan Firan Zal'honan (a.k.a. Azalin Rex)
Azalin has had quite a roller coaster of a(n) (un)life before the party hits his radar. When he first appeared in the Land of Mists, he worked for (or with; depends who you ask) Strahd von Zarovich on a way to escape the Mists, resulting in the first use of the Apparatus and the inclusion of Mordent among the domains. When Strhad was sent back to Barovia, however, Azalin was sent to rule Darkon and found himself unable to learn a single new spell. This hasn't prevented him from continuing to research ways to escape though.
His most recent one is to harness the Hexad and ensure it's completion . Unknown to him, if left unchecked he'd actually make the Conjunction fail, but inaction has never come naturally to him.

When the good doctor's son was kidnapped, Azalin gave Van Ritchen temporary control over a large group of undead. Since then however, the doctor has sworn to destroy all liches... Firan included.
