Kavan Desert
Out here in the Kavan Desert, magic is a fickle thing. Sometimes it works. Some times it doesn't. Sometimes it even blows up in your face. That is why, when people were living out here back before the Hordes of the Undead Kings rolled through and slaughtered everyone, most never even bothered with magic. This area instead became a hotbed for technology. But even that sometimes didn't work, what with it all being powered by Mystia. It was the wild west back in those days. But nowadays the towns that were out there are ghost towns. Some in a very literal sense, said to be haunted by the spirits of those who perished to the Undead Kings.
Geography
The Kavan Desert is a vast rocky barren wasteland where almost nothing grows, besides some cacti. It sits at the foot of the Crazy Mountains, just north of it. There are no lakes or rivers here. The only water anywhere around is ground water, with all of the taps being in the three ghost towns that lie scattered through out the desert.
Ecosystem Cycles
Once in a while during the wet season, there are actually Mystia storms that roll through the area. When this happens, anyone who is in the area most assuredly will die unless they get to cover as soon as possible.
Localized Phenomena
Magic is very fickle in the Kavan Desert, and sometimes doesn't quite work right. Some believe this to be a localized effect from the vortex in the Crazy Mountains. Others believe it to be caused by something else entirely. One thing is certain, magic is not recommended in these parts. You might end up blowing your head off if you aren't careful.
Climate
The Kavan Desert is a hot barren desert. Most of the year it is just hot. But during the fall and winter months, it is raining almost constantly. Back when the towns were still in operation, some people would collect the rain in rain buckets and use that for their water. When living in a place like this, you have to do what you can to survive.
Fauna & Flora
The only real plant life here are cacti scattered through out. The area is populated with a lot of Scorpio and its Evos, as well as Blackarach and Reclusid and other deadly Mystimon.
Natural Resources
The area used to be littered with gold mines back in the olden days, back when the towns were founded in the second age. But nowaday, one of the reasons no one has tried to repopulate the towns is because the mines have all but dried up. However, rumour has it that there is another gold mine, larger than all previous mines, hidden somewhere in the desert. To this day, people still travel out to the desert in search of this lost mine.
History
In 2737 is when the end came for the towns here. That was when the hordes of the Undead Kings rolled through and wiped out the towns. No one stood a chance. Some managed to escape to the east. But others perished. It is said that the ghosts of those who died that day still haunt the place to this day.
Tourism
Most visiting here are usually searching for gold, such as for a lost gold mine that is supposedly hidden somewhere in the desert.
