Apargo

Apargo is a popular hunting and fishing destination for many people in Atlantea. However, this has been overshadowed by something else as of late, a creature known as the Apargo Devil, which was recently unmasked as in fact a Mystimon known as Vamprawl. For years the Apargo Devil bedeviled the hunting industry of Apargo, and hence the entire tourism economy. Due to this, they had to bring in outsiders to attempt to unmask the creature, as it was leaving drained bodies in its wake. Now the town has added a whole new thing to its tourism repertoir, as now people come from all over to see the creature first hand, or at least a stuffed one in the museum in town that was built to capitalize on the Apargo Devil. Of course no one really wants to meet a Vamprawl face to face. But the creature has single handedly nearly wrecked the town's economy, to now single handedly saving the town's economy. For that the town is thankful.

Demographics

The town of Apargo is largely home to Native Atlanteans who have adapted to the cold climate. Other than them, the town is often a tourist destination for hunters during the hunting seasons, or fishermen who come up here to spend a few months on the fishing boats in the arctic waters.

Government

The town is led largely by a mayor who is elected by the townspeople, but even he has to answer to the King of Atlantea.

Defences

The town doesn't really have any defences to speak of, other than its unassuming looks. The town is so small that most enemies would never even give it a second look.

Industry & Trade

For the most part, the town's economy is based around fish and other seafood from the arctic circle, but certain times of the year hunters come from all over to hunt in the wilderness surrounding the town. However, now the economy of the town has a new industry, tourism, as people come from all over to see the Apargo Devil museum and learn about the newly discovered Mystimon, Vamprawl.

Infrastructure

The town doesn't really have a whole lot in terms of infrastructure, besides fishing docks and the like. It is a very small town in the arctic circle.

Districts

The town is so small, that it really isn't divided at all, besides between the docks and the rest of the town, and that is about all.

Assets

Part of the town's defences include the fact that it really doesn't have much in the way of assets, meaning enemies have no reason to attack the town at all.

Guilds and Factions

As with everywhere in Atlantea, there are many who believe the Thieves Guild has their hands in this town and that the town's government and Maji Guard are corrupt.

History

Just a year ago, the town was being bedeviled by a creature known as the Apargo Devil. Many thought the creature was just a story, until dead bodies started turned up. This in turn started to bite into the town's economy as hunters began to stay away and go elsewhere. Due to this, the town had to call in a group of investigators to figure out exactly what was causing these bodies to turn up and stop it. Over the course of a couple of days the investigators, known as the Hidden Archives, would uncover exactly what was at fault, and in the process discovered a brand new Mystimon, Vamprawl. After the Hidden Archives triumphantly brought the creature back to town, a museum was built in their honour. To this day, the museum continues to collect news reports on the Hidden Archives' exploits all around the world, as well as more details and observations on Vamprawl. This museum has become a hotbed of tourism for the town.

Points of interest

Before the Apargo Devil incident, the down didn't really have much in terms of points of interest, besides the wilderness outside of town for hunters during hunting season. However, after that incident, they now have a whole museum dedicated to the Apargo Devil and to collating news on the exploits of the investigators who uncovered that creature, the Hidden Archives.

Tourism

For a long time, the entire economy was propped up by hunters who would come to the town to hunt in the woods outside of town every year. But then came the Apargo Devil incident. Afterward, a museum was built dedicated to the newly discovered Mystimon, Vamprawl, and to collating stories of the exploits of the investigators who discovered it, the Hidden Archives. This has all been a major boon for the town in the last year.

Architecture

The buildings and houses in the town are largely constructed of wood and logs.

Geography

The town sits on a peninsula in the arctic circle, surround on one side by woods and wilderness, and on the other by the arctic ocean.

Climate

The town is in the arctic circle. There are two seasons here really. For most of the year the sun never rises at all and snow fall rises toward the knee and you need snow shoes just to walk through it.

Natural Resources

The most plentiful natural resources the town has is the great hunting in the wilderness outside of town, the logging, but for the most part, fish. Lots of fish.
