Gûnragni
Gûnragni is a largely subterranean mining town, located in the east of Elderan, north of Dun'Vol, and at the base of the Iron Mountains. A high number of the town's population are Dwarves.
Gûnragni is under the jurisdiction of the Kingdom of Dun'Vol, and is situated at the mouth of the Gûnragni Pass, an artificial tunnel that passes through the Iron Mountains, connecting the waters of Lake Darquin in Elderan, to the Vracari Sea in northern Terrasmus, with the name "Gûnragni" translates from Dwarvish to mean “under-river”. The Gûnragni Pass allows ships to pass through the mountains, instead of going around, allowing for direct trade between the Kingdom of Dun'Vol and the city of Stormspoint. Despite Gûnragni Pass not being a popular trade route, due to the superstitions around the ruins of Vracaris, the town of Gûnragni still sees a steady influx of trade between the settlements of Elderan and the city of Stormspoint.
Gûnragni also has an active mining operation, operated by a majority of it's local population, which delves beneath the Iron Mountains, connecting to the mines beneath Dun'Vol, and procuring a wealth of metals and other minerals.
Government
Gûnragni is governed by a Burgomaster, who is appointed by the Kingdom of Dun'Vol.
Defence
Gûnragni is defended by a garrison of Stonewatch, the local guard of the Kingdom of Dun'Vol.
A small fleet of warships, the Dun'Vol navy, are also sometimes docked at Gûnragni.
Commerce
Gûnragni lies at the mouth of the Gûnragni Pass, with trade ships passing through the town while traveling between Elderan and Stormspoint, often selling their wares in Gûnragni, before they are exported across the rest of Elderan. Gûnragni also collects a toll from all ships that pass through the Gûnragni Pass, depending on their size and cargo.
Gûnragni also has a mining operation that delves beneath the Iron Mountains, procuring a wealth of metals and other minerals that are sold along the trade network.
Geography
Gûnragni is a largely subterranean settlement located beneath the Iron Mountains, and at the mouth of the Gûnragni Pass, with the river flowing directly though it, connecting Lake Darquin to the Vracari Sea.
The town for the most part is built into the walls of the underground tunnel, stone buildings and homes carved into the rock, while at the eastern mouth of the Gûnragni Pass, there are a couple of mostly simple, wooden buildings, located outside the tunnel, with a small harbour for visiting vessels. The entire town is bisected by the river, with numerous rope bridges crossing over the water, that are quickly disassembled to allow ships to pass.
