A "dirty" version of the M-50 often used by asteroid belt pirates who can't afford mint-condition Mars Defense stock.

• The Hack: The tensioning mechanism is faulty, so they compensate by running a massive, short-burst thermite-reaction current through the wires the moment they deploy.
• The Effect: Instead of a clean cut, the wires are white-hot. They cauterize as they slice.
• The Mess: Because the wires are melting as they work, the "cubes" are jagged, charred, and fused together. It’s an incredibly ugly, smoky, and loud deployment. It’s often used as an intimidation tactic; the smell of ozone and burnt protein is unmistakable.
