Palace District
The Palace District sits in the northern part of the city, walled off from all of the other districts. It is beautiful and lush, with all sorts of gardens and palm trees, water fountains and pools all about.
In this district once sat the Academy, which was a massive golden pyramid with a glass capstone; several large obelisks once surrounding it, framed by grassy patches, flower gardens, and tall palm trees. There was a 20 foot wide, 100 foot long brick road leading up to the Academy, with small rectangular pools of crystal clear water on either side. We are of course speaking in past tense here, because the Academy as it once was no longer exists. It was destroyed a few years back when the Dragon Lords of Flame and Light, Flamdrone and Holiclone brought their battle to bear in the skies over Calrune. This incident occurred in 2737 3A, and rebuilding on the Academy has been slow.
There is also the now abandoned Council building, large dome structure, smaller than the Academy, but no less spectacular. The obelisks which once surrounded this building have now been torn down. The building was scheduled for demolition in 2737 3A, however these plans have fallen by the wayside. Fae'roh Stormbreak Constopolis calls the building an eyesore, but his attempts to have it torn down have apparently been met with some resistance. The Council building sits across the road from where the Academy once stood.
To the west of the Council building, along the same side of the road, is the Maji Guard Keep. It houses all of the officers of the Maji Guard within its sandstone castle walls. Along the outside of the structure, can be seen the scars of a terrorist bombing which occurred in 2737 3A. This attack also killed Kairine's friend and assistent at the time. The pain of this time still torments Kairine to this day, and the debris still lying upon the ground around the perimeter of the castle serves as a grim reminder of that fateful day.
Finally, at the end of the long road along which the Academy, Maji Guard Keep, and Council building stand, sits the massive and towering structure which the Fae'roh calls home, the Palace. It is a splendorous sight to behold with its tall pearly white walls, in stark contrast to the brown sandstone which the rest of the buildings in the city are constructed of. Even taller than the walls are its pearly white towers, at the center of which sits the tippled dome throne room.
Demographics
The Palace District houses the governmental structure of the city of Calrune, as well as the country of Almahna as a whole. The current Fae'roh, the leader of the people of Alamhna, Stormbreak Constopolis, lives in the Palace at the far end of the road. The Maji Guard, who defend not only the Fae'roh but the people of Almahna as a whole, are housed in the barracks of the Maji Guard Keep. Priests from all across the country and of course the world come to pray to the Gods and study religious texts at the Grand Temple.
Defences
There is a single entry point in the entire walled courtyard, being the gate to the rest of the city. The gate is heavily fortified and guarded, and only those permitted to be in the area are allowed through. Defenses have been increased in recent years since a civil war nearly broke out in the streets of Calrune, from 2736 to 2738 3A. Tensions in the city have thankfully calmed down since. The courtyard is heavily fortified and guarded.
Infrastructure
The courtyard is a massive, walled, rectangular yard. From the gate to the Palace is a 300 foot long, 20 foot wide golden brick road. This road branches off into smaller roads leading up to the Academy square, the Council Dome across from the Academy, the Maji Guard Keep to the west of the Council Dome, and then to the Grand Temple of the Gods to the east of the Academy, also currently under reconstruction. Through out the yard are gardens, palm trees, fountains, and pools, giving the area a very warm and inviting feel. Most of the buildings are constructed of sandstone, however the Academy was built of an unknown stone, and the Palace is built of marble.
