Academy District
After it was destroyed in a Dragon Lord attack back in 2737, the suggestion was made to take the opportunity to rebuild the Academy and move it to a district of its own. After some discussion, the Fae'roh accepted this suggestion and anexed a portion of the Noble District for it, and it was placed to the west of there. Of course this faced a lot of criticism from the Nobles, however the Fae'roh seemed to relish the opportunity to throw egg in their faces.
Construction began in 2740. Kairine Kamuya monitored the construction very closely. However, she made the decision to run for the new Council in 2742, and when it became clear she was likely to win, she had to choose a new successor, someone who would take over for her as the Academy Headmaster. After much deliberation, she made the decision to appoint Crystal Dawn as her successor.
As it reopened to the public finally on the 7th of Conflee, 2744, Crystal Dawn took her post as the new Academy Headmistress.
Demographics
The primary professions present in the Academy District are Academy students and professors. There is also Agatha, who runs Agatha's Naeko Cafe.
Government
The Academy District is home to Almahna Academy, and so is governed primarily by Almahna Academy. Crystal Dawn made an agreement with the Fae'roh that Academy grounds are outside the Maji Guard's jurisdiction, and so formed the Academy Campus Security to handle all security in the district.
Defences
The Academy District is surrounded by its own wall subsections connected to the city walls of Calrune. Beyond that a campus security patrol the campus grounds.
Industry & Trade
Most people come here to attend school at Almahna Academy, or to host classes. There are a few small shops scattered through out the district, such as Agatha's Naeko Cafe.
Infrastructure
The most important service of this district is of course Almahna Academy itself, the central pillar of the district.
Assets
Most people don't know this, unless they join the Wayfinder Society, which Crystal brought into the fold of the Academy, but there are equipment stores in the Academy. This is something that Crystal tries to keep quiet, as she doesn't want the Fae'roh to get the wrong idea.
Guilds and Factions
Upon taking over as the new Headmistress, Crystal folded the Wayfinder Society into the Academy. As well there are whispers that a secret society known as The Ah-Mun-Ra has infiltrated the Academy, after many years of failed attempts with Kairine at the helm. She has warned Crystal that they can not be trusted. Why is she so concerned about them? It could be because they appear to have their own agenda, which they have neglected to tell anyone, as is their way.
History
Almahna Academy officially reopened on the 7th of Conflee, 2744.
Points of interest
Of course the primary point of interest in the district is the massive pyramid structure of the Academy building at the centre of the district, which is so tall it looms over all of the other structures in the district. Other points of interest in the district include of course Agatha's Naeko Cafe, with all the lovely Naekos and coffee. Others might be interested in the Academy Grand Library, which is home to the largest library in all of Almahna.
Tourism
People come from all over the world not to see the Academy District, but to attend school at Almahna Academy.
Architecture
For the most part, the structures of the Academy District are constructed of sandstone, but none more so than the Academy building itself, the massive pyramid structure at the heart of the campus. The tip of the pyramid is glass on all sides, as well.
Geography
The district is constructed on a large sandy plot for the most part. Sandstone is used to pave the roads. Fresh water is available through several fountains that are found scattered through out, as well as a pond in the north of the district, where students love to congregate when not in class. Fresh water is also available through the very extensive irrigation system that brings in water from the Nile River.
Climate
The Academy District sits in the middle of a sandy desert.
