Morkas

Morkas is a town in the country of Teme-Rasadar, located within the Lendover Mountains. It is near the oft-snowy Peak Pelos, its alpine lake attracting the large town's original settlers.

Government

The town elects a mayor chosen from an eligible pool of land-owning residents. Eligibility requires residence within the city and active participation in the local community, whether it be as a philanthropist, volunteer, or a business owner. It is the mayor's job to represent Morkas in region-wide meetings and affairs, as well as appoint and designate leaders of the town's business, tourism, and education sectors.
Morkas is currently governed by a dwarven woman named Miraleigh Brighthand, who replaced its former kitsune mayor upon her voluntary retirement. Brighthand was an active member in the town's fishing and hunting guild before her appointment as mayor.

History

Morkas's former mayor briefly evacuated the town following the Caelsimil Crusade against Teme-Rasadar as a result of its decimation during the war. He was directed to do so by representatives from the Caelsimilan military. They returned after restoration efforts had been made on the town by the new, united post-war government.
