Body paint and make-up

If clothing and accessories make up one part of a Levis outfit, then makeup and body paint make up the other half, bringing vibrancy to the displays of skin on air.

Some form of skin paint has existed as long as Circuit tattoos have. While those who deal in the tattoo paint have worked to specialise their own mixtures - those mages in the natural philosophy of materials, have come to realise the parralel play of ink, paint and the more cosmetic body paint and make-up.

The face and the skin

While we will see further discussion in the Levis Fashion Hub about application of such in styles and designs, those paints applied to the skin come in two types - opaques and stains. Many opaques came from the trolls often layering the skin not covered by their Kiran or fungi, and refined with certain oils and salts found in the Oceanus region.
Meanwhile it was the foliad who developed the stains - most importantly the lip stains that performed things like the 'Spider's blessing' - a lip staining pattern meant to indicate an early foliad was ready to start courting.
From these early ideas and uses, we can see things like the bucaneer death masks that flooded oceanus and Dorsal Island during 1500-1375 Quiet Years. These makeup applique were elaborate mixes of a white stain and elaborate red opaque patterning atop.

Nails and tusks.

When not covered by tooth diadem, both tusks and nails can be enhanced cosmetically by a biodegradable tree sap. The sap is a byproduct of certain aphid like insects, and is almost a honeydew type arrangement. When mixed with certain compounds, both powders and coagulant agents, the sap can form a tough layer upon a surface, mixing with keratin and tooth alike to structurally reinforce it. Due to the bonding process, when it degrades it does leave the underlying area with pockmarked holes. Use of one of the many local flies and a layer of honey instead leads to easy and harm free removal.
