Dr Algol, Child of Hydrus (Simply known as Doc), is the head of the medical labs at the conservation centre, where they oversee the medical wellbeing of all subjects under the care of The Conservationists.
Doc arrived under unclear circumstances and quickly earned a reputation among the other researchers by harshly criticising the existing medical equipment and protocols before overhauling the entire system. Their origins remain unknown, though they have since earned the nickname "Abyssal Devil" among the other staff.
Doc possesses an extensive and still-developing knowledge of alien biology. Prior to their arrival at the conservation centre, they claim to have worked freelance, though they offer little elaboration on the specifics of that period.

Appearance

Doc is tall at 6'4", with white skin, short messy white hair, and pink eyes. Their presentation is androgynous. They wear a plain medical tunic with white boots and gloves, showing little interest in more colourful attire.
Doc wears a white mask with pink markings at all times and will deflect any suggestion that they remove it. This is partly a cultural practice among their species, and partly a consequence of being Void-Touched where the condition has left permanent scarring across their body, including their face.

Doc is almost constantly working, even outside of regular hours. Despite their abrasive nature, they are attentive to the anxieties of their patients and make a deliberate effort to ease the experience of medical procedures.

Though Doc will hear out advice, they are firm in their methods and rarely deviate from their own approach. They also struggle to form genuine connections with others, keeping most people at arm's length.
