The Conservationists

The Conservationists are a galaxy-wide organisation dedicated to the study and protection of endangered species and cultures. Their work spans preventive conservation, examination, documentation, research, treatment, and education, with efforts directed at preserving what remains in the wake of large-scale galactic disruption.

History

The Conservationists were established in the aftermath of Ra'koom, founded in response to the sudden appearance of U'krhith in the galaxy and the widespread destruction that followed. The organisation was born out of an urgent need to preserve whatever could be salvaged from the fallout, whether species, cultures, or knowledge.

While the galaxy has since adapted and life continues, the Conservationists have not stood down. Their founding purpose remains ongoing, and they continue to operate with the same goals that brought them into existence.

Structure

The organisation operates on a decentralised model, with a network of hubs distributed throughout the galaxy. These hubs share information and collaborate with one another, but each is independently specialised to suit the region it occupies and the species it works with.

Reputation

The Conservationists are regarded with a mixture of respect and frustration across the galaxy. Their goals are widely acknowledged as important, but their methods have earned them a reputation for being pushy and overly meddlesome in pursuit of those goals.
