The Astral Plane

Millions of years ago, the psyori meteorites ¹ crashed onto the Earth and seeded the planet with the ancestors of the Astragrades ² order and the minerals that had housed and fed these creatures. This oder of organisms would later spread across the globe, adapting to various ecosystems and habitats/ Some even forming symbiotic relationships with the various living things on Earth. The biotic processes of these organisms give off a type of energy that now known to give psychics the ability to use their gifts.
They have also been known to create entities purely out of energy that can interact with the physical plane if they are substantial enough. A subset of these entities are known as astral bodies ³. This free flowing energy has also created another plane that psychics and those that are energy sensitive can access. In 1971, Dr. Elbert Stewart, using Dr. Carruthers' Short Wave Camera, would discover a form of radiation different from anything like what was found on Earth. This radiation was later discovered to be the main building material of an alternate plane that existed beyond normal human senses. He named this space Tìr Spioradail, which roughly translated to 'Spirit Land' in Scottish Gaelic after he observed a person's astral projection combine with the same energy field when testing the first Astral Terminals. Nowadays it's colloquially referred to as the Astral Plane.

Only astral bodies can actually move within this space. Just like the physical plane, it has an ecosystem of other creatures that strictly exist within its realm. Although, it is poorly studied as some of the astral entities that dwell in the plane are predators and protecting oneself or hiding has not progressed far enough that it could be studied safely. But some things like Nestlings have been encountered and documented. There are some theories that there are flora to be found as well.
The closest most astral explorers get to the Astral Plane is the meta streams and its derivatives. Meta Streams are astra-physio connections made between the psychical world and astral plane. These semi permanent spaces allow the interactions between these two spaces. They are most commonly used by mind workers to enter meta spaces that are representations of the minds of their targets. These spaces give personifications of the targets memories fears and other information. It is also believed that this is how powers like teleloquy⁴ and zooloquy ⁵ are connect from speaker to recipient when in use.  

In terms of size and location, It is believed that the Astral Plane hovers around the Earth much like the existent atmosphere does. That the concentrated amount of this astral energy had built up over millions of years created another field about the planet. This is supported mathematically, but currently has not been proven due to the space exploration phase of humanity still being relatively new as of 1982. But there are theories regarding how the plane is physically constructed. One theory is that it is anchored by an asexual species of the class Autotardigrada, that survive on bacteria in the atmosphere and maybe even in the astral plane itself as there has been evidence of astral based genes within some atmospheric bacteria discovered in 1951. 

Transportation to Tìr Spioradail

Traveling to the Astral plane should not be done without precautions, as there are documented predators and the chance of getting lost in the plane is very high. One can move to the Astral plane through astral projection with and without assistive devices. Astral projecting freely requires the use of advanced meditation techniques and should not be done without proper training and supervision.

Biolocator

A device that issues a psychic homing signal to guide a wandering astral body back to their psychical body.

Astral Terminal

These devices can be made into any shape, but they are made of Polivine⁶ minerals and used to access mindscapes or specific areas that they are tied to on the astral plane⁷.

Geography

The plane itself is described as a large violet expanse with lines and points of light that stretch as far as one can see. It is populated by glowing creatures and even other travelers. Sometimes well used paths can be visualized with the help of machines like a Synapse Sonogram. The lines are believed to be Meta Streams while the points can either be mindscapes or even exits. 

Meta Streams

Meta Streams are the connection between the Astral Plane and other planes by moving through the meta plane, where the the astral plane meets the physical and possible mental planes. Streams can be created through the use of Astral Terminals as well as meditation.

Mindscapes

Mindscapes are stream pockets, areas of the astral plane that are blocked off as mental or meta psychical areas that belong to a living space or being. They connect a mind to the astral plane and usually manifests as a closed off space that depicts a representation of a mind or part of the said mind. They vary from person to person and can range from benign to hostile.
