Guenley
Guenley is a town in the western region of Teme-Rasadar, located on the Caelsimilan Peninsula. It is southwest of Werthington.
History
During the Caelsimil Crusade against Teme-Rasadar, a significant portion of Guenleyans felt discontented about the conflict and the direction it was heading. After experiencing loss and devastation as a result of war efforts within their own city- which left its citizens poor, hungry, and heartbroken- groups of citizens chose to take matters into their own hands. They turned their wrath against Caelsimilans within the city borders, destroying property and inciting violent and often random attacks. This lasted for days, reaching a head as a former member of the Caelsimilan military, an aasimar named Vihrea, was lynched at the hands of an angry mob. Her bruised and bloodied body was tragically discovered by her former comrades, including her sister Industria, who was deeply affected by the incident.
The sheer violence of the crime was enough to shock many of its citizens to their senses. Those who directly participated in the lynching, and did not express remorse, were identified and publicly condemned, eventually being banished from the city limits. Many of the descendants of these lynchers reside in a nearby hamlet that their ancestors emigrated to following their expulsion. The incident and the shame it has wrought had a profound and long lasting effect on the town. Its government is quick to rebuke violence and citizens mourn the loss of Vihrea on the anniversary of the crime.
