Samoth imp

If myth would have you, these imps are only as old as the Age of Settling. Their myths would make them much older.

Do you ever really look into the neck folds of a Brute at night? If you did you might see a Samoth imp sleeping there. Or maybe two, if the brute is large enough. While other imps roost in rock formations, or mining equipment or other places of cover or heat, the Samoth has found that the most reliable place of heat and cover is the titanium hides of the Brutes that wander Infernus.

Anatomy

An imp type whose wings grow in torn sheets of hanging flesh as they age.

Behaviour

Samoth imps cycle the iron in their blood my periods of weeping blood. While not painful, it is something done in private, due to the appearance of being a vulnerability. As anyone who sheds a large amount of blood on the regular will tell you, there is nothing vulnerable in the practice, but as one of the smaller sentient species in many demon communities and with similar looking and similar named feral 'cousins', most imps try to cleave to any behaviour that will see them as adhering to the social norms of the area.

To this end, many an imp sub-community within larger communities will capitalise on their enhanced healing, and the mythology around the practice and send at least a few of their group along with any raiding group as scouts, utilising on the healing factor they have to provide reconnaissance to those they travel with.

If a whisperling will make everything in their environment suit their size, or use their pack to suit things that are larger, a samoth imp will instead make tools that enable them to work within iron demon culture with as little disruption as possible.

Beauty Ideals

Imps value the extreme in personal looks, and for Samoth imps, that is keeping the tattered and damaged parts of one's wings as long as possible before the wings take them.

They also enjoy keeping their toe claws long but dulled, great for grasping, but dulled as to show that they are not an imp at risk or in danger. An Samoth imp with sharp claws therefore is more rugged and less part of any community they are in (which is a social faux pas to an imp).

Relationship Ideals

An imp should never be anti-social. They should never be a social victim, but one can wiggle ones toes over the line - if careful.

Samoth imps desire a measured kind of social conformity, wanting to be appreciated where-ever they land, but not needing to be the centre of attention. As such they tend to fold into support roles in any community they arrive in, often constructing specialty tools to help with the size difference.
