Brutes
The largest bodies hide the most sensitive souls
Every army needs its seige weapons, every city needs its heavy construction units. In Infernus, these are the Brutes.
10 foot tall creatures of muscle and bone, of sharp protrusions and horn, these very intelligent beings are kept in check by a loyalty inherent to their kind. They hold an unwavering loyalty to their Lord or Lady - usually the lust demon of the area. Their kind never seeks power, instead knowing the wisdom of well managed guidance.
To mistreat a Brute is a massive faux pas, and likely to result in grevous injury to the person in question. Indeed the Hsithborn Demonarchy has institutionalised this faux pas into some of its more elaborate rules.
With intelligence and strength on their side, it is their low numbers, slow breeding cycles and extreme fragility as young that stop them from becoming the most prolific species of the ever burning lands.
Anatomy
If Iron demons absorb Iron, and Lust demons absorb cobalt, Brutes absorb Tungsten into their very bones. Requiring extensive magma baths to do so, they come from these baths with rich tungsten infusions in the jutting bone that pierced their skin at random.
They have thick hands with three fingers and a v shaped thumb with independant 2nd knuckles. They are hornless, with a series of boney nubs fron temple to shoulder blades, running the long route in two parrallel lines. They also support small stubby tails, that are often 3 inches long compared to their 10 foot bodies.
Reproduction and Life cycle.
Brutes are beholden to their mineral more thsn any other demon type. For brutes their bones are hollow, brittle and honeycombed with vacencies. This is because as whelps (ages 12 to 20) they are submerged into a magma bath to absorb and enrich themself with the tungsten they need.
They stay perpetually no more than 60cm tall until their fist dunking, though the more dunks the Brute has, the more bone strength they have. On Infernus there are mythical Brutes as tall as mountains, their tungsten skin able to stop the very iron winds themselves.
Diet
The large giants subsist on their metal absorption, meat and root vegetables, though mainly vegetables. The purple Ayak root is their main cooking vegetable - often fried until the kernels around the edge of the root pop out with superheated liquid.
Brutes in Levis
Due to Xylos' invasion of Levis and then the second demon war there exist 12 Brutes on the Levis side of the realms. One of the Brutes has part of a raiding party in the south of the Forbidden Forest, a second retreated into the mountains to the east of Natare. Two stayed with Xylos and 3 went to Hublesstone. 4 of the Brutes remain unaccounted for, which is a surprising development for beings so large. There are rumors that one has followed Balmuth into Oceanus, but no good records are seen about bucaneer activity there or around Lamiacae bay.

I love that some of them have just casually disappeared. Like they had a midlife crisis and packed it up. Leaves things open for good stories to explain those missing guys... want mor
