Most JauVon time keeping devices are round. They typically have a fixed arm with rotating disks for the the day, week, month, and so on. Some going as far as adding years, hours, or minutes.
Their measurements for time are 6 months in a year, 9 weeks in a month, 6 days in a week.
Personal guns are outlawed to varying degrees on both planets and space stations.
No one should have a gun unless they are in the military.
Of course Pirates often ignore this, so having a gun when not in the military will brand you a pirate.
Bows count as guns in this sense, but weaponry installed on the outer parts of a runner does not.
Swords and other marshal weapons, on the other hand, are not only acceptable, but fashionable as well. Many carry them with little idea of how to use them, though basic swordplay is often a part of gym class for youngsters in school.
There is no way for JauVonian's to accidentally have a child.
Due to reasons lost to time, JauVonian's, Ovie and Vivie alike, can not reproduce without both parties taking a special medication. The governments control this medication and have rules and restrictions on who can have children and when.
It is unheard of for them to allow mixing of the races.
There are, however, illegal, and usually questionable, means with which you can get your hands on the medication, or knock offs of if.. or people claiming that its totally what they are selling you. Its risky but its the only way to get a child if the government turns you down.
When the people of Jaumun and Vondren lost their collective history to years of cold war, they also lost their medical knowledge. For the Longest time most practical medicine was taboo, though no one can really say for sure why.
Then the Medical renaissance began in Bhcu Cuhcil and people started sharing their bits of information. But this knowledge was so valuable and known to so few that doctors started getting abducted. Because of this, less people to want to go into the medical field, only adding to the to the rarity and danger.
Systems were put into place to protect Doctors, among them was the Vondren Medical License system. The licence system provided doctors with fortified locations to work and provided military guards. This grew the numbers, if slowly, and the Bhcu Cuhcil Medical Society was founded.
Even with these systems the amount of people willing to work the medical field is still relatively low, especially on Jaumun, and unprotected or careless medical practitioners are still regularly snatched away to serve for crimelords or as ship doctors for pirates.
Colossi are huge eldritch beasts, each one vastly different from the last.
Said to be part animal part machine, these biological weapons are terrors to behold.
They darken the sky with their massive bodies and uncountable tendril like limbs, only to light it up again with the glow of Cryolidhium.
Cryolidhium is the main power source of JauVon. Its hard to get and can be unstable at times, but heck if it isn't effect and long lasting. Also it glows, so that's cool.
Removing anything created in the body is considered, not only disturbing, but also highly immoral and monstrous. Blood, organs, tumors, etc. Anything made by the body must stay where it is, lest you be considered sick in the mind and shunned by your peers.
Adding anything to a body is seen about the same as taking things away.
Therefor, replacing a faulty organ with a new one would be double the heinous act.
The exemption to this is amputation, though this is considered a last resort.
Prostheses, on the other hand, are considered tools and are therefor highly encouraged. Though they are not considered part of the medical field.
Regarding the dead
Dealing with the dead, as in cutting open dead bodies for their parts, or for study. Its very disrespectful to the life and memory of the deceased. You will likely be compared to a scavenging animal and considered less than a person for doing so.
Its rude to leave some one standing for over 15 minutes. If you've been sitting as long as some one has been standing, and that's over 15 minutes, you are socially obligated to give up your seat to them.
Also the host/business/staff will be greatly embarrassed for not having enough seats for all guests.
For similar reasons people do not spend much time in lines, instead there should be a list you add your name to and wait to be called.
For those living in smaller towns it is dangerous to go out at night, so they work in the day and hold their parties inside at night. Due to this they find leaving a party to be extremely rude. Its like saying a party is so boring you'd rather risk death to leave it. So they find city folk and spacers very rude, as they jump from party to party freely.
