Personal history

Meldon was born to Buwen Verjuzon and Zhezeon Cinjdom, in Vullavual Laud.

Childhood

Meldon lived with his parents in The Pile, both of whom were scrap hunters and often gone for days at a time. When they weren't around he was watched by the few elderly scrappers who could no longer hunt. Like other children he was put to work sorting through scrap the adults brought in.
When his parents were home they'd often have a little welcoming party and spent days feasting on the best foods they could afford. Srap work was dangerous so they always lived life to the fullest and did what they enjoyed whenever they could.

At age 7 the temporary home of childcare became his only home, when his parent's didn't return with the others from an expedition. The work was harder and the adults were meaner when you didn't have parents for them to cater to. Annoyed by this change in treatment, Mel begane hiding the most valuble scrap he came across whenever he could, slowly building himself a stockpile. When he had any unsupervised free time he worked on trying to understand how the scrap worked and how to use it.

Around age ten, he was so used to this way of life that he became a bit too sloppy and was caught. Like anyone else caught stealing, Mel made into an example. A public beating and heavily reduced food rations, chained to his work stations, and sold off to strangers as a laborer.

He was more given the purchased though, as the parts he'd been caught taking were meant for a clouddriver company, Indamin, that ran out of The Pile. The person running the company at the time was a BenuOv named Rube Dendi.
Rube Dendi wasn't a kind person by any stretch, but the work of building ships was a lot more interesting to Mel than sorting scrap. He was taught how things really worked instead of brute forcing the information through trial and error.
Mel's habit of hoarding valuables and working with them on his own time had not been quelled by his punishment though, and he began plans to make his own driver and escape The Pile for good.

Early Adulthood

Mel was caught again when he was 13 and his punishment this time was a month as a pit fighter. If he survived he'd be 'forgiven', and if he didn't well.. that part was fairly obvious.
