Minotaur
Minotaur are a species of bovine-like humanoid that tend to have a natural physical strength, making them gravitate towards roles as warriors or labourers.
Historically Minotaur often suffered prejudice due to the belief that they were monstrous and violent, and while this stereotype has largely fallen out of favour in modern times, it can still be seen in pockets of the world.
Minotaur are a rather uncommon sight, maintaining only a small population across Exorsia. They are often found living in cities and settlements, and they have been known to be members of druidic communities.
Magical Origins
Minotaur are believed to have been magically created by mortals sometime during the Bronze Age, through unethical biological experimentation. They were designed and sold as loyal and unquestioning protectors and soldiers, or as living siege weapons, similar to the creation and sale of what would eventually become their replacement during the Age of Arcanum, Automatons.
While originally Minotaur were designed to be mindless servants, they eventually began to develop consciousness and many eventually rebelled against their creators and captors, escaping into the world. While Minotaur were met with fear and hostility at first, they were eventually able to integrate themselves into societies across Exorsia, by demonstrating their capacity of kindness and empathy as well as their willingness and aptitude for physical labour.
Deepdark Monsters
But not all Minotaur were freed from their servitude, with many remaining as slaves and soldiers to the wealthy, bread in a way to maintain their servitude. But even they were eventually discarded, replaced by the Automatons of the Age of Arcanum.
Those discarded Minotaur were eventually re-discovered residing within The Deepdark, though this breed was far larger and more monstrous than their surface relatives, mutated into inhuman and aggressive monsters. The Minotaur of The Deepdark are often found in the servitude of the Children of Arachne, used as soldiers and labourers. They can also be found wandering The Deepdark, attacking all those they come across.
Appearance
Minotaur are commonly broad shouldered humanoids with bovine-like heads and horns. Their bodies are often covered in thick fur, with a bovine-like tail and a set of hooves instead of feet. Some Minotaur also have three fingered hands instead of five.
Due to frequent inbreeding with Humans, some Minotaur have more human-like faces, or feet instead of hooves.
Fur: Minotaur fur ranges from tones of brown, black, and grey.
Eyes: Minotaur tend to have brown coloured eyes.
Maturity
Minotaur mature faster than Humans, reaching adulthood by the age of 10.
Reproduction:
Minotaur reproduce similarly to Humans.
The gestation period for a Minotaur is around 12 months.
