Warforged
Warforged, sometimes called Automatons or Robots, are a group of arcane powered, mechanical constructs created during the Age of Arcanum.
Warforged were originally created as servants, designed for hard labour, entertainment and even for war. Warforged was the name for the military brand of Automatons, but it soon became synonymous with the entire species.
During the Age of Arcanum, Arcane Automatons were extremely popular, while originally designed in the city of Kith’urûr, Automatons very quickly occupied households and factories across the globe, completely replacing and far more popular than the Minotaur, that were created for the same roles the age prior.
After the Fall of Arcanum, many of these Arcane Automatons lie hidden in ruins, dormant and waiting to be awakened.
Sentient Machines
At some point during the late Age of Arcanum, some Arcane Automatons began to develop consciousness and free will. This was unintended by the designers, and while the elite tried to supress this awakening, word soon got out, and with support from a growing number of Automaton freedom groups, more and more Automatons attempted to escape their owners to live lives free from servitude.
Unfortunately is unknown how widespread this awakening could have gotten, as only a few years after it began, the Age of Arcanum came to an abrupt and violent end, with a large majority of free Arcane Automatons lost in the Fall.
While many Arcane Automatons have been recovered, they are exceptionally difficult and expensive to repair, and those that have been repaired show no signs of free will. Though there is still hope that a sentient Automation will eventually be recovered and reawakened.
Many scholars have speculated that these conscious Automatons had somehow become a Mortal species, freed from their programming. And that Mortals had become so powerful during the Age of Arcanum that they had found a way to artificially create life, like the Gods themselves. This theory is often cited as one of the inciting incidents that led to the Fall of Arcanum.
Modern Automatons
In the modern day technology has advanced back to a point where Automatons are beginning to be re-developed, some are built with Arcane assistance, while other are purely mechanical in nature.
While these Automatons are nowhere near as advanced as those from the Age of Arcanum, and none have shows sign of consciousness, they are a miraculous achievement in mechanical progress.
The Ryder Industries, of the Varin Empire, are currently at the forefront of Automaton manufacturing, but they are still far away from public use.
Appearance
Warforged were created in a variety of different and unique appearances. While a majority of them were bipedal and humanoid in appearance, many others were quadrupedal, or had multiple arms and heads. Warforged could resemble just about anything.
Warforged usually had sturdy metallic bodies, but some were made from wood or other materials
Maturity
Warforged do not age. But they can be destroyed, and without proper care and maintenance a Warforged will eventually stop functioning.

Warforged can not reproduce.
