Fairies

Fairies, sometimes called Sprites, Pixies or Faeries, are one of the most populous Fae species native to the Land of Faerie. They are tiny and chaotic single-sex species that can be found all across the Plane of Faerie, either as Wildfae, inhabiting the many trees and groves of the Land of Faerie, or as members of the Seelie and Unseelie courts.

Fairies are nature spirits, immortal Fae bound to their inherent nature. They are closely related to Nymphs, magically born from budding flowers and trees within the Land of Faerie. Fairies are often bursting with emotion, and like a majority of Fae beings, Fairies are self indulgent and hedonistic, heavily valuing freedom and following whims in pursuit of pleasure above all else. Despite not needing to eat, Fairies are known to love consuming foods with a high sugar content, such as fruits and sweets.

Fairies are extremely magical creatures, infused with Faerie Magic that they wield with the aim to cause mischief for their own amusement. Fairies are frequent tricksters that enjoy playing pranks and causing misfortune for their unsuspecting victims, often through the use of Enchantment or polymorphic Magic. Some Fairies are more nefarious in their mischief, with their pranks leading to harm or even death. Many a victim has followed a Fairy to their demise, much to the Fairies' amusement.

While older Fairies do grow more wise and powerful, with more Faerie Magic at their disposal, Fairies are some of the weaker Fae creatures, driven only by their desire for a quick burst of fun and laughter. They are often subservient to Archfae, or just nuisances you encounter in the wild. Because of their troublemaking Fairies are sometimes described as pests, in and out of the Land of Faerie.

Fairies are rarely found far from the Land of Faerie as they are one of the more susceptible Fae creatures to Faesickness. Fairies found in the Material Plane are likely signs of a nearby Fae Gate, or an area with a powerful source of Faerie Magic. Fairies are also sometimes sent into other Planes as messengers for Archfae.

Appearance

Fairies usually resemble tiny, child-like Elves with an otherworldly, magical appearance, long pointed ears and insectoid wings that extend from their backs. Fairies will often assume whatever gender presentation suits them in the moment, some sticking to one appearance, others changing frequently. Fairies also tend to sparkle with magical bioluminescent dust, and many have plant-like features.

Older Fairies often lose their innocent appearance, instead developing an insect-like appearance, with chitinous bodies, sharp, bladed teeth, large black eyes and long spindly limbs. This appearance is usually hidden by a glamour.

Complexion: Fairy skin tones can be a wide range of colours, like flower petals, from shades of green, pink and purple, to Human-like, varying from a light pale complexion to a dark brown one.

Hair: Fairy hair colour ranges from a Human-like black, brown, blonde and ginger, to a magical green, white, pink and purple.

Eyes: Fairies tend to have large green, purple or black coloured eyes.

Wings: Fairies often have translucent dragonfly-like wings or vibrant and colourful butterfly-like wings.

Maturity

Fairies are born fully formed and are ageless while within the Land of Faerie, showing no signs of age.

Fairies outside of Land of Faerie tend to survive for less than 10 Years before suffering Faesickness.

Reproduction

Fairies can not and do not reproduce. They are instead magically born fully formed from budding flowers and trees within the Land of Faerie.
