Aasimar

Aasimar are an exceptionally rare species of angelic humanoids with a connection to the Divine. Aasimar are similar in nature to Celestials, but they are not born naturally, and are instead a mutation of another species.

Aasimar are a people divinely blessed with innate Celestial power, which often manifests as Divine Magic, and angelic features, such as glowing eyes, marble-like skin, and angelic wings.

While Aasimar are seen as divinely blessed, and a sign of good luck, life is rarely easy for an Aasimar, with many of them hiding their true identities. Aasimar are often treated differently, seen as special, and placed upon a moral pedestal, with many people wanting to use their divine image and abilities for their own gains. Aasimar are also commonly hunted by Demons, Devils and agents of Dark Deities who desire to corrupt them, or even by cultists who want the body and blood of an Aasimar for macabre rituals.

Celestial Origin

Aasimar can originate from any humanoid species on Exorsia, though is most common in Humans due to their increased population. It is hypothesised that Aasimar make up less than 0.001% of the worlds population.

Aasimar are most often born an Aasimar, to parents that aren't Aasimar themselves. This usually occurs when the Aasimar's parents have been blessed by a divinity or have some sort of divine connection. Such as being a champion of a deity, being a high ranking religious figure, or those that come into frequent contact with Celestials. Aasimar children can also be born to parents who have some divine blood in their ancestry, such as being from a long line of descendants of a Demigods. This divine connection then transfers through the parent to their developing child, mutating them and altering their biology with Celestial traits.

But not all Aasimar are born, there are records of incredibly rare circumstances, after a Mortal revives a blessing from a Divinity, when they become transformed, either intentionally or otherwise, into an Aasimar. This transformation has both been said to either be instant, or a gradual transformation over time. Many of the Divine Champions of the Bronze Age were said to Aasimar.

Outside of scholarly circles, some people also believe that Aasimar can be born from a union between a Mortal and an Angel. But since Angels are widely recorded as infertile and unable to reproduce, this is a misconception.

Appearance

Aasimar are humanoid in appearance and usually resemble their origin species but with some additional angelic features, such as unnatural skin tones, glowing eyes, halos or angelic wings.

Due to their rarity, many Aasimar are able to disguise themselves as people with albinism, hiding their Celestial nature.

Complexion: Aasimar skin tones either match that of their origin species, or it can be more Celestial in appearance, with ivory, marble-like, bronze, silvery, golden or even copper green coloured skin. Aasimar skin has also been known to have faint markings across it, or to even glimmer or sparkle.

Hair: Aasimar hair is usually a shade of white, but it can also match the colours of their origin species. Aasimar hair is also known to glimmer or sparkle.

Eyes: Aasimar tend to have gold or silver coloured eyes, with many having pupilless or radiant glowing eyes.

Maturity

Aasimar mature at around the same rate as their origin species.

The total lifespan of Aasimar are unknown, as the majority of them die early. Though many have been recorded exceeding the lifespan of their origin species, with little sign of aging, and some have even been recorded living for centuries longer than their origin species.

Reproduction

Aasimar are all infertile and can not reproduce.
