Locke Quarry

Just outside Locke within the Gert region of the continent of Malnax, is The Locke Quarry. It is a quarry that had been created in 1386AG, once a very successful open-pit mining operation of diamonds - in a strict agreement with the local Aarakocra. In 1391AG the miners found the first Bloodstone and black Tourmaline.

The deep mines are now too dangerous and seems to now only hold a little coal and small amounts of iron.

A quarry is a type of open-pit mine in which dimension stone, rock, construction aggregate, riprap, sand, gravel, or slate is excavated from the ground.

Geography

A deep open Quarry located very near the village of Locke that had a good relationship with the nearby Aarakocra.

After blood spilt, during the Footfall attack, into the tree roots and soil in 1403AG, the quarry failed to collect any more diamonds - however there still is cursed Bloodstones and black Tourmaline stone.

Natural Resources

Bloodstone

is a variety of chalcedony, which is cryptocrystalline quartz. When it is green, the colour comes from chlorite particles, dotted with bright, distinctive red spots of iron oxide that resemble blood, hence its name. The stone is a symbol of justice.

Tourmaline

is the name of a large group of boron silicate minerals. These minerals share a common crystal structure and similar physical properties - but vary tremendously.
Colour: Black is the most common colour.

History

1386AG = the quarry was first mined for coal and iron when diamonds were discovered.
1391AG = the first Tourmaline and Bloodstone were discovered - after some accidental deaths at the quarry.
1403AG = Aarakocra were attacked by members of footfall.
