Summercamp 2026

First week

Homework: Complete your summer camp pledge, see below.
I rolled a two on the hopscotch die, so I'll complete both one and two on the board.
Review and update your world primer. Well... there wasn't one so check the world page to see the one I wrote for this challenge.
The second space was either reviewing CSS or maps and timelines. I am absolutely abismal at CSS so I went back over my Master Timeline to add some era of history after what I'm currently focused on. Additionally, I added a fundemental map to my world, it's little more than a static PNG but we'll fix that in the future.
Alright for my settlment based on love, meet the little town of Oued. A monument to an honored and legendary artist.

Week 2

Assignment: Pick an area of focus. If you've looked at my world so far, I have about 10 articles (counting those in progress) so I'm tentative to pick any one area of focus. As I need to build up the fundamentals a bit, let's call the focus: The Fundamentals.
Alright rolled a 3, so that's three challenges to work on.
1: Why did you choose this focus? Why is it fun to write?
I do personally like this area of focus. It lets me think about things that might have less impact on my world in more in depth ways, which makes it easier to write the book itself.
2a: Make a list of related articles you already have, expand them? OR 2b: Make a list of concepts you'd like to explore
Rolled a d20, it told me I should think up 12 concepts to develop, maybe I'll do an article on each one plus one extra.
  • Saints
  • Devils
  • Titans
  • Gods
  • Primordial
  • Titles of power
  • The Kahn region
  • Trade in general
  • Nations of the world
  • Necromancy specifically
  • Magic
  • The various sentient species
  • Regions/geography

Ok this might be a lot, so we'll go up and down the list during summercamp.
3: How does this area of focus affect the world?
  Uh.
  Huh.
Well, I guess to put it simply it affects all the areas? Because it's the foundation.
Anyway, the prompt for this week is to create a geographic region based on growth (coming soon). As you may have noticed my world is based on our world, just flipped around and reflected a bit. So, I chose to focus on a region changed by magic, and a region small enough to not be inaccurate to the real world.
  Final product for the week:
The compound canal comples. Previously mentioned in the deitic war article I decided to make a full length article for it. Into Misc. it goes cause I don't have a category for geography yet.

Week 3

Alright this week we rolled a 2, that means two spaces forward on the hopscotch board.
1: Typical creative process and routine
For my articles, the first one of a category is usually the hardest, for the others, I just have to use the same template and find how the new location or person fits into those boxes. For my inspiration I often pull from either just novel ideas (see the compound river ^) or real people and historical events (Saint Pythagoras). This works out so I have some different places to look to.
As for routine. Boy that is one of the things we need to work on. I'll have some free time this July and my goal is to write at least 1 prompt and go back and improve 1 prompt that I already wrote per day. Of course, I'll do more if I have time.
  2: Go for a walk
I went for a walk, got inspired to write some unrelated prose, not all that helpful to worldbuilding but a good idea nonetheless.
Now the article prompt for this week is: Write a lost language this should be fun! Plan to center it around necromancy because that's what the majority of the actual story is centered on. I'm also somewhat studying linguistics for this article, so it should be semi-accurate.

Week 4

Our assignment for this week is to state our goals for our world. So my goal is to develop this setting into a world that I can use for my novel, and one that I can use to make various stories and medias in after that. We rolled a 3 on the die this week so we've got to move three spaces down the board.
What articles do you need to achieve your goal
The articles I would need to achieve my goal are probably the ones most closely related to the story and general cosmology such as gods and magic.
Find a community or accountability buddy
I have a small circle of people IRL who will be keeping me accountable.
"Take a break, come away with us for the summer let's go upstate..." -Hamilton
As soon as I'm done with this week's article.
As for the aforementioned article, we're writing a myth that centers on the true meaning of family. I'm thinking something along the lines the Devils banding together to protect The Gambler. Should be fun!

I don't particularly love the myth category, so I decided to write an additional piece of prose for this article (see above.)
