Old Necromantic

Necromantic was a language created by the Reaper of Souls when he first began to interact with humanity more, it is a conveluted language designed to bridge the gap between the largely inaudible Primordial and Human languages. It is currently largely a lost language, with only select phrases being preserved in the collective dialect and by select priests.

Usage

Geographically

The modern speakers of Old Necromantic are most geographically common in the 6th Circle, and even then there are very few speakers. The highest concentration can be found in isolated monasteries, protected by dedicated priests.

Grammatical rules

Old necromantic followed basic grammatical rules that were an attempt to mimic human grammar by The Reaper of Souls. As such it possess a somewhat consistent use of commas, but little else is understandable about the grammar.

Morphology

Affixation

The prefixes and suffixes of pull and modify from Latin, often stacking multiple prefixes and suffixes to gain more meaning. This can also include putting more than one Free Morpheme into a single word.

Compounding

Frequently Old Necromantic compounded words from other languages with words in Primordial. However, within old necromantic there is little of the "Toothpaste" or "Football" form of compounding.

Reduplication

Old necromantic does not have many features of reduplication, pulling away from the tendencies of Primordial.

Clipping

Most clipping can be attributed to new Necromantic, the more commonly spoken tongue, but the actual substance of this language does not frequently change due to being preserved by holy orders.

Borrowing

This language borrows from almost every other language it can, many of the nouns are direct copies or fusions from other languages.

Syntax

Old necromantic possess a Subject Verb Object structure, so its sentences are similar to Old English.

Spoken system

Tenses

Due to being designed by a being that has existed for thousands of years, the language does not possess tenses for words, thus a sentence that in English would look like: I played outside yesterday. Would look more like: I play outside on the 13th. As for the future tense: I will play outside tomorrow. In Necromantic: I play outside on the 15th.

Phonology

The language utilizes a variety of sounds, on a register that is frequently lower than the human range. For the words that are currently known they typically use an array of sounds that seemingly mimic that of human languages, combining or simplifying words from primordial to create words understandable by humans.
