Oktas
Oktas is the youngest son of the Red Queen and King-Consort Vaska, treated as a blessing since the day he was born.
Prince Oktas (a.k.a. the Martyr)
Oktas is the youngest son of the Red Queen and King-Consort Vaska. He was treated as a blessing since the day he was born. Though one of the only two children of the pair - and the only blood child - not raised to divinity, Oktas was, like his father, deeply loved by the people.
Though taught the ways of magic by his parents, and taking after his father in walking among the people, Oktas was most attached to Kyrylo, whom he treated almost as an uncle, and who taught him in the ways of war, chivalry, and honor. Before his death, it is said that Oktas and Kyrylo could often be seen flying over the lands of Trandrafia upon their respective mounts: a large golden eagle for Kyrylo, and an equally large copper and green dragon for Oktas.
Despite his many feats in life, the legend of Oktas lies in his demise. When the Pallid King returned to the capital seeking to overthrow the Red Queen's rule and establish himself as ruler, Oktas confronted his father in an attempt to speak reason to him. This ultimately ended in his downfall at the hands of his father, but wounded him gravely, causing him to retreat from the capital. The death of Oktas sent shockwaves through the nobility and common people, and split the already questioned loyalties to the Pallid King, resulting in the official beginning of the Bloodless Apostacy.
Another of Oktas' descendants went on to establish various noble houses, the most well known being House Vaneanu, former leader of the duchy of Ceskivania, and perpetrators of the Vipers' Revolt. The last most well known legend of Oktas involves his dragon companion. Though he is not the only one to have had a dragon companion - the other being Gölgen - but it is said that Oktas found the egg of this dragon when he was a child, and with assistance from Golgen, he was able to wake the dragon and raise it from a hatchling, growing up as brothers. It is believed that the dragon was killed during the Bloodless Apostacy or died shortly after from grief.
Following his death and failure to be revived, Oktas was placed in a gold and crystal-glass coffin, suspended in eternal repose and placed within the main hall of the palace of the Queen for all to look upon him. His spear, broken in combat with his father, is held by the knightly chapter that now carries on his code, the Lamenters.
Those who revere Oktas as a seraph seek to hunt down corruption and treachery within the ranks of nobility and citizens and stand against those who would betray the Queen. They tend to be more benevolent and self-sacrificing than others.

Influence and Demise
Oktas is seen as what his father was before his fall, and is thought of instead of him now as a seraph despite never being raised to divinity by the Red Queen officially. During his centuries of life, he gained a following by knights, warriors, bards, and regular folk who saw him as the logical heir to the throne.Despite his many feats in life, the legend of Oktas lies in his demise. Legends
Oktas, while not a seraph himself, was incredibly long lived and was the father of Seraph Einandira with a princess of a civilization who joined the Red Queen's war against the elves and fey, Morgaen.Another of Oktas' descendants went on to establish various noble houses, the most well known being House Vaneanu, former leader of the duchy of Ceskivania, and perpetrators of the Vipers' Revolt. Remembrance
No amount of magic was able to bring Oktas back from his death at the hands of his father. It is widely accepted that the Queen refuses to allow her son to suffer any more, granting him a place at her side in her divine realm. Many also believe that the Queen will eventually send Oktas back to lead the nation in the place of his father.Following his death and failure to be revived, Oktas was placed in a gold and crystal-glass coffin, suspended in eternal repose and placed within the main hall of the palace of the Queen for all to look upon him. Divine Symbols & Sigils
Oktas is not a god as much a saint, but modifications to the Red Queen's holy symbol have been made to reference him for priests or paladins who devote themselves to his memory. This comes in the form of a bleeding heart.
Holidays
Oktas' birthday is celebrated as a day of somber revelry. Generous meals are shared among communities, knightly boughts are fought, and heroic tales are told. It is a day to remember a man beloved by the people, yet taken from them by another once-beloved figure.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Oktas appears much as his father did, a dark-skinned human with long, flowing brown hair and golden eyes with red pupils. He is often depicted as a knight with a crown and halo behind his head, sometimes with wings extending from his back as he holds his spear aloft. Several depictions also include his draconic companion at his side or as his mount.
