Playground by the Sea

Pacifica did well after the Night City Holocaust. Waves of refugees came there to escape the devastation and radiation caused by the nuclear blast, but it never got as bad as it did in Santo Domingo and Pacifica was wealthier to begin with. Which also meant it could afford security.

The Playground was the first major investment in the district after the bomb. It was the first major investment in recreational facilities in the city. Billions of eurodollars were spent on rollercoasters, market stands, and various rides. And it succeeded beyond expectations!

For forty years, the Playground was where every kid in Night City wanted to go for fun. It was a fun place for a date. Unless you were rich enough to travel the world, or so poor you could barely afford food — this was somewhere you went. In fact, for decades, Pacifica as a whole was known as the Pacifica Playground.

Then came the Unification War and Pacifica became an active warzone. The playground was abandoned and left to deteriorate. Once the war was over, gangs had already taken control to where NCPD couldn't guarantee anyone's safety. The Playground is now a collection of rusted rides and lost dreams.
