Grand Imperial Mall
The monumental building that is the GIM stands as a testament to both the consumerist ambitions of Pacifica in the 2050s through 60s, and a picture of its downfall. It provided every shopping experience one might dream of amongst its many stores. Along with that was a cinema, sports events, and so much more. The Playground by the Sea theme park was just next door, providing everyone with opportunities to spend money.
Then came the Unification War. Shoppers and investors withdrew early on as they suspected what Rosalind Myers being elected President of the New United States of America might mean. When fights broke out in Pacifica, the GIM was already boarded up and its stores abandoned. What owners hadn't taken with them was soon looted if it had any value and often destroyed if it didn't. Since the end of the war, the mall has been a home for people with nowhere to go, temporary hideouts for minor gangs, and a gathering place for larger crowds who want a public space with no oversight.
