A slate is a flat sheet of tempered Slate Glass or stone infused with activated Ana-controlled forces. Slates are used to access the Banyan Tree System: Introductory Guide and Data Matrix: Introductory Guide.

Once you have processed through Immigration Clearance, you will be able to access the main Data Matrix. This will allow you to find out more about the rules and regulations of living in the Exclusion Zone as well as contact your assigned Watcher: Introductory Guide, as well as other support and auxiliary staff.

The most important function of the slate is to inform you of Gap Advisories. These are issued by the Exclusion Zone's Seer Service and provide forecasts and predictions for Gap tearing. An example can be found below:

ADDITIONAL WARNING: Reality shearing may exceed shielding limits on the Low and Mid Spine Corridors. Access will be restricted to Gap Complex Staff only between Gap Hours 2–4 post-noon (Noon+2–4). Movement between East and West City Walls via High Spine will be restricted until Dusk+1 Bell.
